Well I got my Icarius. He's a pretty cool figure. My only issue is that the left wing is super loose. Anybody else have this problem with him?

Well, given the complete apathy I felt toward Icarius and the fact that, for the past 6 or so months, I've been more annoyed than excited when I see the Matty charges pop up on my bank account, I've decided I'm done with the subs. Too much crap I don't want. Sure it makes collecting the line easier, but once I think about it...I've already gotten almost all the figures I wanted out of it. Everything else seems to be characters I've never heard of since I was always a casual collector and didn't care about the comics or anything.

I'll still pick up the occasional figure here and there, but I think I'm finally over it.

I would imagine things like The Star Sisters and Swift Wind do little for buyers like yourself, of which there are many.

I never wanted POP to be in the line. Whatever folks say about New Adventures, there is still 'cool' stuff in there.
I see little or no cool in most POP stuff.
MOTU was always about what was 'cool'.

Yeah, I agree. I mean Swift Wind is actually a cool looking toy, but I don't want it. Nor do I want the Star Sisters, the crap they're loading up the 30th line with (I would think an anniversary line would celebrate the most popular characters, myself), or anything but the core characters I grew up with as toys, since my exposure to anything but the original line and cartoon was really limited.

I'll buy Mekaneck, Ram Man, Fisto, Stinkor and whatnot, but the obscure characters are lost on me.

Plus I'm just running out of room.

I am likely going to pass on the 2013 sub unless they throw Ram Man and Spikor at me (and I buy two subs)..but after seeing that we are getting cheap variants like Snake Man at Arms,I had enough of handing Mattel my money to buy EVERYTHING..So its likely I will become a "cherry picker"....with that said,Toyguru said the line is now dependant upon subscriptions. If more and more people keeping dropping out of the subs, you are going to see the line end sooner than later...plus I am willing to bet very soon as of next year or into 2013,they go completely subscription ONLY and if that doesn't work..end of line!! if you want an example, take a look at their Ghostbusters line, they couldn't sell enough subs so they ending that line sooner than later.

Ghostbusters sales pale in comparason to MOTUC sales though so I am not sure it's fair comparison.

But there is definitely a cause for concern about the life of the line.
There's some 'curious' things hinted at that would add to this concern. Wait and see!

By the way chaps who among you hasn't gotten this thing yet?

Get it while it's still available. You will not regret it.

Well, to be honest if they go sub only, I'm 100% done with it. I love MOTU and the line, but with a few exceptions, I've gotten everything out of the line I wanted. It would suck for those fans who want every possible character in existence made, but I can't justify $30 or so a pop for characters I've never heard of simply to have the convenience of getting the ones I have.

I know people over at the .org would be losing their collective ____ if it did end because of low sub numbers, but you can only do so many obscure characters before people just stop buying them. Look at DCUC. Hardcore collectors love it, but the later waves at retail have been full of characters almost no one has heard of in terms of the general audience.

The Ghostbusters sales definitely pales in comparison, but the example I was using was that when the Subscription sales are low,Mattel will shut the door on it,especially since Toyguru said everything MOTU is now dependant upon Subscriptions (He said it at Power Con).So as more people drop off the Subs, eventually numbers are not going to meet.....I also heard rumor MattyCollector.com is in trouble,so Mattel may end up taking over with a subscription only program.

And yeah,My catalog book just shipped!

this is my biggest problem...so if I want Ram Man,to get him,I have to buy boring characters that I don't really want, like Icarius or Snake Man at Arms at $30 a pop! plus there is those Star Sisters, which I don't really care about at $60..Its becoming too expensive to drop $30 on characters I really don't have interest in,plus selling these on the secondary market is not as simple as people think without losing money selling them because Ebay is saturated with figures.

I have come to conclusions that Toy Guru says a lot of things that may or may not be true.
As anybody who is a regular at He-man.org and saw the recent TG comments will a agree to.

that may be true, but I don't think he is BS-ing about the Subs.He did say the Subscriptions are guaranteed sales, and he needs to go to upper management with numbers to keep the production going. It is the guaranteed purchases that keeps it going each year.Otherwise, there would be some serious cherry picking going on by giving the customer a choice.

I have to admit, the line is getting a bit old at this point. And room is definitely a concern with me, as well.

I'm still in for a sub though, I think. At least, that's how I feel right now.

We still plenty of dope stuff on they way. Demo Man, Fisto, Khan, Griffen, Vikor's Horse, Granimyr and you can bet we will get a Roton and a Battle Ram.

I am also look forward to Dragon Blaster Skeletor and Snake Armour He-Man when we get them.

I think we can sit through the odd POP bit of lameness.

It's already been said; it's all about the money. They're not going to give us all of the originals or the most popular characters first because they know 50% or more of everyone will or would quit buying. So they're giving us obscure characters mixed into the line as well as POP and NAH to string us along as long as possible.

As for a Battle Ram, they showed a prototype last year but we didn't get it. This year they show the Wind Raider and we get it first; who knows if we'll get it at all. To be honest, I'd rather have had the BR first. It was me first MOTU vehicle, and my favorite.

We get Toy Guru on the podcast a lot and we discuss many things, like a possible horse for Vikor.

I'd post a link to our awesome show (and I can say that with confidence looking at the numbers) but as it's a He-Man.org thing, you guys probably think it a complaining podcast. :monkey1 ;)

I actually listen to it :monkey1

I must of missed the Vikor's Horse

the broadcast has been kinda dead as of late (no new broadcasts)

The only problem I have with the broadcast is you guys goof off too much, and go off-topic at times, which makes the broadcast much longer than it needs to be

If you mean what he said about the .org making up a small amount of consumers and not being as important to the bottom line as they think, I'd have to side with TG here. They're extremely vocal, but at the end of the day they're not the most important segment of buyers. The sad fact is that a good majority of the people over there have completely lost touch with reality and over value their worth, and when someone points out that they're not the only thing keeping MOTU going they lose their ____ over it and call for their heads.

I honestly applaud TG for not going off on the people there months ago.
