Yeah,at this point in the game,Skeleton Warrior's are off the table
I honestly think that 2014 will be the last year of MOTU Classics
No, I don't. But I think a full year for 2015 will be a heavy lift.
With 2014 being the stronger year (because Mattel isn't even sure we'll get a 2015) I don't see them having much of anybody to help carry selling Subs..
Two-bad and Modulok are the nails in the coffin for MOTU Classics...because there nothing left to get enough people to commit to another full year of D list characters in '15
I for one don't care about twistoid or Rotar
I disagree that they're off the table. Tg did say animation figures are coming as wee. And we do have two more years of army builder packs. I'd say 2015. I think if 2014 happens, and actually delivers what tg promised, then I'd say 2015 is going to happen.
I don't even know who they are! LOL. I expect 2014 will happen. I don't think 2015 is impossible, but they will have to struggle. Personally, I think they should sprinkle in a few 2.0s. Surely Teela or Fisto 2.0 would outsell Twistoid?
2.0's are not going to happen...if they were to do them,it interfere's with a sku then taking away from a character that's never been made before
The "dream" of getting Teela and Fisto re-issued is NEVER going to happen and it's been said a million times over that there is not enough demand to turn back on the machines for them to meet MQO (minimum order quanity)
So we kill the line for the DREAM of a Chef Allen? At some point we will have to choose between the intellectual purity of not doing new sub versions of the most demanded core characters and the line simply dying.
We may indeed squeak a 2015 with all new never before made or heard of characters, but then that would be the real end.
Most people who wanted Teela and Fisto already have them...there is no justification to go back and produce another 5,000 each to satisfy the 100 fans that missed out on them
The line needs new character's to survive (not variants or re-issues)
You assume that the only people who would consider buying MOTUC in the future are people who have been buying them for a long time. That's a bad business strategy. It assumes no new customers.
I will agree that Matty is doing very close to nothing to try to find new customers.
But if they did find a new customer or two, what are they going to sell them? Hydron? Castaspella? If they want anything, they want those core MOTU figures. When they learn that they're inaccessible, Matty simply loses a lot of those customers.
I get that people who have collected this line from the beginning would rather get Chef Allen than Beast-Man 2.0. But if those are the only people Matty has in mind..... well I expect 2014 will be the final year.
I am not assuming the very FACT that older issues are DONE! There is nothing that is going to bring in NEW customer's at this point. The line is on the verge of being finished and they are going to try and finish the Vintage line...
Those who missed out (which I am sure isn't alot of folks who want this line) are going to have to pick the previous characters on the secondary market
Matty doesn't care if they lose customer's as it is how they been doing business for this line for the last 5 years. Some of us just have stuck it out since the beginning
"Matty doesn't care if they lose customers as it is how they been doing business for this line for the last 5 years. - This is the worst business strategy I've ever heard of! LOL
They don't care if they lose customers because they have been losing customers for years?
Seriously?
Look, I get it. Guru wants what Guru wants. He wants Hydron and Castaspella and has a box full of Beast-Men in his bathroom. But things might get different when he (and others) are looking at Mattcollector.com actually going under. It won't happen in 2014, but it may happen in 2015. And I can't imagine a 2016 without a few 2.0s.
They should've had 2.0s, or try to get re-releases of the main figures with less paint apps/accessories at TRU or something when they announced Grayskull. But Mattel clearly doesn't want to try anything to re-ignite the line or bring in new customers, they're more than happy to squeeze out the remaining few dollars from the hardcore fans and then let the property fall into limbo again.
