I actually assumed at first that was the case and even then thought it was crazy overpriced. When I realized the figures didn't come with it I was extra shocked.

yeah,2014 MOTU will happen

I don't see how the DC and Ghostbusters Ecto-1 would be close as he states in the beginning....and if they go through, then we know for sure the Sub Meter is just a game or that Mattel will always find a way to produce these no matters the numbers

They put a lot more work into MOTUC. That might be the one which really does require 100% (or close) of the meter. DC is more complicated because Matty doesn't own it. They may worry about losing the rights to do it or some esoteric part of the contract...

DC is dead in the water, IMO. Its too broad of a brand to offer a 'subscription only' based model, especially after 20 retail waves full of the characters people know of. While I applaud them for keeping it alive as long as they could, I'm surprised it lasted as long as it did.

I collected DC Universe when it started, and while I didn't like every figure, I usually got a whole wave to complete the CNC, which were really good characters in the beginning, i.e. Metamorpho, Grundy, Metallo, etc. But take away the CNC, and there's no way I'm buying half of those figures I did.

I would totally do a Batman only sub, or buy figures like both Doomsdays, but Batzarro, Fire&Ice, Starman, those god-awful Rainbow Lanterns are things I'm not going to buy just to be able to get a Ras Al Ghul. I never subbed for DCIE, but did buy a few figures here and there. At least with MOTUC I have a general idea of who to expect, i.e. 6 vintage figures, 3 POP, 1 NA, 1 200x, 1 concept character. But with DC being so vast, there's no way to even guess as to who you're going to get, besides at 12 characters that at some point have been in a DC comic the past 50 years.

I think for collector action figures in the 6" scale to be economically feasible in the future, with rising costs and whatnot, then something like the 4H's kickstarter is going to be the way the industry moves to. Retail outlets don't want to sell action figures anymore, and the costs are getting too high to justify the current business method of producing these things.

Yeah, that is the problem with a DC sub. I was way into the GLC a few years ago and I bought every GL I could get my hands on, but didn't bother with the rest. I would NEVER spend money on a LSH character, for instance. The DCU is just so vast.... They should narrow it down for a sub. A Batman or JLA sub would do well.

If it was a Batman/JLA sub from the beginning, I might've gotten on board as well. When the first 3 sub figures shown were Jay Garrick, Red Lantern guy, and Starman LVXXII, I knew I was out. I know those figures have there fans, but those do nothing for me(well maybe Flash if I had kept up and gotten the whole JSA prior to that.)

All of that following the Rainbow and Super Powers wave is what killed it for me.

So since i have started collecting classics one of my main wants is a beast man figure. When looking at mattycollector unlike other figures it says that he is currently unavailable. What does that mean? Will he be for sale again on the website? Any help would be awesome. Thanks.

Yeah, I want one too. He's not available. He may never be available again. Your best bet is Ebay, and he's expensive.

I would want a not tiny Beast Man. Really bums me out any time I see pics of him.

He's noticeably shorter than the rest of the figures. I want him to at least be as tall or more in the Grizzlor/Carnivus range so he still looks about the same height when hunched over.

He's such a wee little lad.

Some good points mixed in with some belligerent nonsense. But, yeah, the MOTUC sub will go through.

I guess my question is: If we hit 135% that will be considered a great big success. But is it really? Why not 200% or 300%? What would happen to sales if they fired Digital River? What if they stopped pretending to sell out of stock when they actually have thousands of the figures taking up room in their warehouses? There's a lot which could be done to improve the way Matty handles things and it would improve sales.

Sub is going to get a big weekend push because of all the crazies at the Org of one guy buying 35 Subs (same guy who did it last year) who in the world needs that many subs? and trying to sell them isn't going to be easy and fun to do...then another buying 8 and then added two just for the heck of it...some are buying extra's because they feel good.I guess people just have the money to burn and throw away

I doubt those guys are going to lose much of anything at the end of the day if they sell Two Bad, the Unnamed One, and any other sub only figures at the right time. It's a heck of a lot of work just to break even though. I'm sure BBTS is making money on their subs, otherwise why would they even invest in it?

Yep, the guy that bought 35 subs last year said he was able to sell pretty much everything on Ebay or the forums and make some money on the sought after figures, he says he has a bunch of Karattis and Fighting Foe Men, but that's about it...
