Thank you. Been a prowler for about a year, and been collecting for most my life, so it seemed time to up and join already. Spare my girlfriend all the toy talk, and just purge it all here. Cheers. :)

my beast-man took a tumble of the shelf yesterday. thought he was a goner. my friend had his bratty kids over for a few minutes and in those few minutes they almost destroyed my whole house. God, i hate kids. anyways, back to the toy discussion.:lol

I dread the day i have to go through this with any kids over at my house.

Now If i can just hold off on King Greyskull till he gets a re-release.

speaking of king greyskull, how flexable is his cape? i'd expect Hordak to have the same amount of flexability in his cape... and if it's not much I'm considering cutting the plastic cape off, and replacing it with a cloth one.

was bidding on a mer-man, beast man set. Not gong to pay more than retail for them, or any others, as They'll be getting re-released eventualy. looking at another mer-man now. it begins, and my wallet cries.

I don't know man... I think He-Man and Skeletor might get reissued. They're the key characters, after all, but I think they might be a bit different from the first ones. I think Beast Man and Mer-Man are less likely, and King Grayskull, almost certainly not. The less prominent a character is, the less likely it'll get re-released, imo anyway.

Sucks for me too, I still need a bronze Grayskull. I'm glad I jumped on the line when I did, though I wish now I had picked up at least one extra Skelly and He-Man for future trades.

Mattel has stated that they'll release all figures eventually, including King Grayskull... they're not planning on them being variants, just re-releases. KG will be in a regular packaging vs. SDCC packaging though...

they'll be re-releases with minor tweeks....skeletor's left hand (see the latest Zodac figure to see what I mean) so he can hold both sword and staff.

He-Man's shoulders will be fixed as they are supposedly backwards (I really cant see it) and they are suppose to have stickers on the package saying
"2nd release"

Where did you read this? This is what I've read (from Toyark):

"If MOTU contines to be successful, they may look at A Grayskull type display. Good chances of Battlecat and obviously Panthor.

The Cost for Mini comics would take away from things like extra heads. They are looking at doing a graphic novel reprinting the original Mini comics.

They are looking at international distribution centers for international fans.

MOTUC reissues would have minor changes like 2nd printing on packaging.

King Greyskull could get a reissue with different paint apps."

And I think I read elsewhere that even He-Man, once reissues, would have minor paint app changes as well... Considering what they've done with the previous MOTU line (which was a long time ago, I admit), I wouldn't be surprised if they were more than minor.

the repaints on he-man have already been announced. it's a reduction on the amount of red around the eyes. the " repaints" are intended to more or less be slight improvements on the earlier releases. Mattel said they did not want to alienate anyone, and make it so that Anyone who wants into this line will be able to get into it without having to pay e-bay prices.

Yep, that's right. I remember reading that.

Okay, so He-Man, and probably Skeletor will be released more or less, if not exactly, the same. However, I don't believe that it has been stated anywhere that any other figure will get the same treatment. I can see them doing that with He-Man and Skeletor, as no MOTU collection would be complete without them, but other figures? I'm not so sure, especially when it comes to less prominent characters or exclusives like King Grayskull.

nope, i spent the last weak reading this entire thread, and all the matty Q&a's, EVERY sold out figure will be re-released eventually, it's just a question of when. In addition, there will be minor packaging changes, and likely changes in the paint applications as well.

Something you've got to bear in mind. unlike sideshow's 12 inch line. this was never intended to be a limited edition line. It's a collector targeted line, higher quality, and all, but not intended to be an investment. The only value matty cares about with this line is what you pay them for it.

My guess is that when a figure goes over a certian dollar amount on the secondarry market, is when we will see re-releases of them.

however, i think that with the Subscription service now, It will become far easier to get them long after they sell out, which will likely take longer as well. Matty stated in one of the Q&a's that they would be making enough figures to fill EVERY subscription order, PLUS more beyond that. I'm a little apprehensive about Hordak still, however.

Can you point out the Q & A that said every one will get released again? I've only seen ones that say some will, and I'm wondering if people are just misquoting that. It just doesn't seem likely to me, other than He-Man, Skelly and maybe a few others.

Don't get me wrong, I don't want to come off as the guy who DOESN'T want them reissued - I'd just be wary of getting your hopes up, that's all.

i've read it too. it said every figure will be re-released eventually cuz they want everybody who wants one to get one. don't know which Q&A it was from but i remember reading it.

7. Why the long delay between the re-release of sold out figures?
The production schedule determines the time it takes to re-release a sold out figure, and that can take time.

9. How about adding a "back order" option to sold-out figures on Matty Collector to help Mattel gauge interest in 2nd edition figures, help Mattel adjust future production runs, plus to notify those customers when that figure returns for reorder?
We are well aware of greater interest in figures that have been sold out and this is why we will go back into production of them in time.

then i came across this... which is odd..

from 2.14

10. Rather than all figures being re-released, Mattel has been stated that "core characters" will get re-released 8-10 months after a sellout. How are the core characters determined?
Right now we are just looking at He-Man and Skeletor, but if there re-release goes well we will look at brining other sold out figures back. It is too early at this time to comment exactly.

considering that the later Q&A's contradict this, my guess is that the response to re-releasing sell-outs was good enough to warrent doing everyone... that and 1 hour sell-outs.
