got to add this as well. As a kid, a few kids who was delusional enough to not know that reality was reality, and fantasy was fantasy.
Perhaps i olny hung around with the "smart kids". Though my spelling might attest otherwise.
the only kids i remember who thought certian cartoons were evil were the bible thumper children who thought getting bs would make them go to hell.
And the show they thought was devil worship, for the record?
Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles. Why? becuase " animals don't talk unless they're possesed by the devil. Momy said so"
i got sent to the office for laughing at that:eek:

What i'm saying is this. If you're intellegent enough to rase your kids to know the difference between right and rong, and reality and fantasy, then there shouldn't be any issues.

That video was hilarious. I couldn't get myself to watch the last minute or so, because it was boring me to tears. MOTU is just a representation of the struggle of good versus evil and the characters simply have the iconic characteristics of what those traits are IMHO.

the influence is there, I'll agree, but that's just good chracter design. At the end of the day, It's a cartoon, and they're toys.
Mattel was not trying to sway people to the belief of one faith or another, they were trying to sell toys . To try and claim otherwise 9 like the video does) is foolish, and it makes the speaker seem foolish.
As a practicing Pagan, Yes, i see alot of occult references throughout the toys, and the show as well.
As A practising game and character designer, you draw on these things like mattel did to evoke a deep, ingrained response. We associate these things as we do, becuase human culture has associated these shapes and ideas for as far as we can remember. Tolkien did it with his books as well, and so did CS Lewis.

but at the end of the day, it's only about making you do one thing.
Buy toys :lol

In my opinion, Tolkien and CS Lewis were not true Christian Godly men....as they claim "ALL paths lead to one" because there is only one true God and only one way to Salvation, and thats through Jesus Christ. As a practicing pagan that you are, then its ovious to you what religion of entertainment its pushing to the audience...its indoctrination and in my belief....false teaching.

The creators know exactly what they are pushing when creating their "fantasy" characters....While the characters may seem so cool...their origins portray mystic religions, demonic influence, and the occult aspects.

The original was supposed to be green. I hope next years SDCC exclusive (or even NYCC) is Eldor. Would be nice to see what the 4 Horsemen could do with him.

Actualy, My beleifs were formed based upon the hypocracy present in most organized religion. My use of the term pagan is somewhat misleading. I use the term "pagan" to represent Non-traditional religions. I would say that I'm polythesitic.. to a degree, but I'm willing to accept that this beleif could be wrong.

I beleive that any religion, propgated and pushed upon others must be inherently wrong. ofering teaching is one thing, but forcing it upon others is something else.

EVERY religion on the face of the planet has simular tennants. There is a primal force for good, and a primal force for evil. your decisions upon the mortal plane will determine which path you have decided to walk. And there is a place for you on either side upon the time of your death.
Even in reincarnation you either advance to a higher form of life, or move backwards to a lower one.

In addition each Primal side has it's Over god, and his council of lesser gods. or in christianity, A Supreme god, and his angels.
In addition, at their core, written religion are basicly guidelines by which to live your life. All of the above can be summed up in simple concepts. In christianity, we have the 10 commandments. Mos t pagan faiths have the rule of three ( Misdeeds retunr to the doer of said deeds 3 times as harsh).

Christianity Has Prayer. Bessching the powers that be to make a desired event take place.

"pagan" Faiths Have magick, Beeseeching higher poerwes to cause a desered event to take place.

Prayer is focusing your deire on an end, and wishing it to happen. wantiing your god to make it so.

Magick uses Ritual and repititon and focusing of will to acheve it's goal.

In addition, Magick works best when you have large groups of people comiting the same action to cause said events to happen.

It bears mentioning that Ritual, in my opinion is simply a Foci to help sharpen your will, making it easierto cause the desired event.

Noticing a pattern here?

I'm not a Wicca, Nor a celt, nor anything that has real name. I beleive that organized religion is wrong, and has become a corrupt venture only purpose is to controll the minds of it's worshipers. Much as the Catholic Church was during the mideval Period.

I walk my own path, The closest name I've had for what i am, is someone once called me a "childe of the light" or "servant of the light". I beleive in standing up for what I beliee in, and defending those who cannot do it themselves. I do my best to lead a good life, and do the right things.

Something I'd like to mention.
In many "Pagan" Belief structures. Jesus of Nazareth is considered to have been the most powerful wizard who ever lived.

In my own mind, Jesus is possibly the most noble man who ever lived, and I've strived to live my life in a way that exemplifies him. He may have been Divine, he may not. I don't know, becuase i was not there, and i cannot rely upon the reading material we have at hand due to how much was edited, and left out by the Catholic church at the time. If you're not familior with the apocraphia, I suggest you look into it.

At the end of the day, however, all we have are books, and stories about these people which may, or may not have been corrupted by the hand of man, and the passage of time.

i want to be very VERY clear on this one point. i don't fault you your failth, nor do i decry it. It is your faith, and it is something that is important to you. No man has any right to take that from you.
But i do suggest that you not follow it blindly. Loyalty is alot like Sugar. A little goes a long way, but ALOT an lead to blindness.

I was a practicing Baptist untill I was around 14 years old. When a member of the church ( no, not a priest, but another person "employed" by the church) Begged me to let him give me head, I stopped going actively, and started questioning things, and began noticing contrdictions, and developed my own beliefs.

As far as He-man goes, I said it earlier, and I'll say it again. It's about selling toys, and making a profit.

Yeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeah anyway guys He-Ro looks good. I forgot the original crystals color. :dunno

hehe...

Yeah, does anyone know that? I don't really prefer one over any of the others, but if there was an original colour I suppose that'd be the one I'd aim for.

I'm not too particular about which color was original, but if you go back a few pages, someone posted a pic.....
ok, it's several pages back.

eithor way, I THINK the original was clear.

Personal preference, i WANT the green one.
He's got Red on his costume already, and Blue as well, this makes the Green stand out the most, and makes it feel MORE like a power crystal.

So Odds are, if when I get him, if i get a color OTHER than green, I might just trade with someone depending on how it looks in person.

Sounds like a plan. We should all just trade for the color we prefer. I'm leaning towards "purple", but "green" would be fine too. Red just brings out all the rest of the red in his outfit and would be the one I least prefer.

Booyah! It's kind of greenish. And yeah I wish the armor was still gold chrome.

so was He-Ro an actual toy back in the halcyon days of old, or was he just a prototype figure that never got made?

and i must say that Mattel has done a wonderful job on this line for year 1. i'm really impressed and satisfied with everything so far(despite some of the ordering headaches). i can't wait for year 2. i decided i'm going all in and getting the subscription. i don't care what figures and lines they do. i want every figure (and hopefully accessories) from this line.

so is it bad that Im going to a theme park tomorrow but refuse to leave until after noon so that I am sure I get my Hordak?

What's bad about that? You will enjoy both endeavors, and I'm sure you'll enjoy the theme park even more knowing that you've secured your Hordak order.
