I think it's just hard for people to give "credit" to someone who has a proven track record for being such a deceptive weasel. Yeah, he was there so I guess we really can't pretend he wasn't like some kind of history revisionist. Instead of giving him credit, I would instead say he was "directly responsible" for many aspects of the lines produced by mattycollector. He really caused more harm than good so, giving him "credit" is too much of a stretch for some. I'd say the 4H and the fans deserve more credit for the existence of the line than anyone else.
I think it's more of a coincidence that we received so much from Mattel, and it just so happens Neitlich was there when it all happened. As I understand it. Mattel was ready to revitalize the 200x line with some new figures. That's when the 4H came in and showed off their prototype of He-Man in an ALL NEW classics style. With that said, It's very likely we could have gotten the classics line and many other products with a different brand manager. It would have been very different, but still in the realm of possibility. A brand manager can successfully do his or her job and make a toy line sell like hotcakes without turning everything into a shameless vanity project.
