I'm trying to put together a pretty definitive group -- some from the DCUC line, some from other DC lines. So far, I have the following ...

Last Son Superman
Last Son Bizarro
Smallville Clark Kent
DCUC Green Arrow
DCUC Green Lantern
DCUC Flash

I'd like to get Batman, Martian Manhunter, Aquaman, Joker, Penguin, Two Face, Lex Luthor, Zod, Killer Croc, Riddler, Doomsday, and a couple more from the Smallville Justice League.

So, I'm split on which Batman and Joker to go with, and am looking for suggestions on the others. I have the Mattel MM Dark Knight Batman and Joker, but they're a bit small and not quite comic bookish enough. I was thinking of going with the Batman from Public Enemies ... will it fit in scale? What about a Dark Knight Returns Batman? Arkham Asylum? I tend to like more realistic Batman depictions ... the original DCUC Batman is a bit too Adam West, and I'm not that into the black one either.

I'd like to get semi-realistic renditions of the Batman villians. What are the good options for a hardcore looking Joker? I think the DCUC Joker may be a little corny looking to go with the Last Son Bizarro. Is there an Arkham Asylum Joker figure? What about Two Face, Penguin and Riddler? I like the DCUC Killer Croc, but is there another version worth looking into?

As for the others ... the Last Son Zod is the only one I know of. Aquaman is an easy DCUC. What about options on Lex Luthor? Doomsday (preferably in scale with Bizarro and Killer Croc)? What are the good Martian Manhunter figures out there?

Just browsing around ... found several good Batmans. Top one is awesome ... may be too big to fit in with the DCUC, though.

DCUC Joker is the best comic Joker ever made. Period. No way around it. Get that one. No arguing.

The DCUC versions of any of those characters are better than the DCD version, except for maybe killer croc. There was a recent Arkham Asylum (not the game) box set that included a Batman, Croc (orange arkham shorts), Joker (in straight jacket), and Penguin (white oufit). That would give you a good creepy Joker and a good Croc at least.

I don't think there is a Zod out there. And The DCSH Doomsday was too small, but great otherwise. But when it doubt, go DCUC.

Thanks.

The only Zod I know of is from the Last Son series ...

The Bizarro from the Last Son series is the best one I've seen ... and the Superman is my favorite of all the Superman renditions released by DC.

DC Direct lacks the articulation of the DCUC figures, but I would not agree that they are always less good than their DCUC counterparts. It is about personal preference. DC Direct releases so many different lines, in so many different styles, that if you most prefer, say, Jim Lee's style, or George Perez's style, or Kevin Maguire's style, then you can go with DCD instead of the more generic DCUC style.

Only a matter of time...

Well, they won't rerelease him until they fix the body. So the original won't ever come down in price, only go up for its rarity. Its just too bad they are cheaping out and not fixing the body in time for the GL Sinestro in the 5 pack :(

The Deadman buck would be a better choice than the Hero buck.

I don't think that's a hybrid. It looks a bit like the Hush Batman, but it has more articulation. Here's the Hush Batman ...

I think its actually a DC Superheroes Batman (from Series 3).

It's definitely the hush head then... the sculpt is completely different to the one on that Mattel Batman.

I saw one of these a month or so back and left it at the store. I hope someone other than a scalper picked him up, it really is a great figure. I considered getting one to swap heads with the Dark Knight Joker I have just to see Ledger's Joker wearing the classic outfit, but I'd want doubles of both figures beforehand.

I got the DCUC Dr. Mid-Nite last night, his right knee is way wonky  but I can never tell if I'll find one again. I do a lot of travel for business so I'm keeping him in the box for now in the chance I find another down the road. Worse case scenario maybe a heat gun and quick adjustment will knock the knee back in place.....I guess I need an action figure chiropractor!!

To Mr. ?, my Mid-Nite also had a screwed up knee, because of the way the geniuses at Mattel package these guys. I fixed it up, for the most part, using hot water. No hair dryer needed. Get the water really hot, run the leg under it for about 30 seconds, mold it into the position you want, then run it under cold water for another 30 seconds or so for it to "set."

Got a kick out of your signature, BTW :D

Toyfare asked this same question and Toy Guru said they tried but that sinestro head on deadman buck "didn't look right"

BS. I've seen customs on the Fwoosh using the Deadman body and it looks great. Mattel is just cheaping out because they'd have to sculpt a new upper torso for him is all. I mean Sinestro should not have the same body as Hal! He just isn't that big! Sinestro on Roids is what we're getting though.

You won't, unless he is rereleased.

ok, so wait, some are getting re-released?i saw the 75th line with Green arrow ( YAY) what about Dr. Fate?
Are we certain sinestro is getting a relaunch?
My apologies for the onslaught of nubquestions.

Unless you're willing to pay upwards of $60 for the Sinestro Corps version, Sinestro is a lost cause. I was lucky enough to snag a loose complete classic Sinestro for $15+shipping.

There's no concrete, 'definitive' re-release yet, but the upcoming Wal-mart Green Lantern 5-pack contains a GL Sinestro on Hal's body. They've said recently that with the Lantern movie coming out (and with it the obligatory onslaught of merchandise that is sure to follow) that they'll get around to 'fixing' Sinestro.

The All-Star releases so far in the new packaging include black & grey Batman (with and without the yellow oval, w/o being a TRU exclusive), Superman, Nightwing, Green Arrow, Power Girl (who's still clogging the pegs round my parts from her wave 10 release), Flash and Green Lantern. They've also said that they wanted to re-release the modern Fate with an all gold paint scheme as opposed to the yellow, so it might just be a waiting game.

I grabbed the non-oval Bats yesterday, and I must say, even without the belt pouches he is a sharp repaint and a good representation of a 'modern' Batman.

Hope that was helpful!

Since you had one with the same problem waiting for a figure in better condition may be a waste of time. I have a heat gun at work and I might give that a go with some cold water if I decide to unbox it, thanks for the info!

For those that asked and are curious, here's some old pics of my custom batman:

It is the DCSH Batman shown earlier, with the hush head, and then the body was entirely repainted to even the grey suit and match the blues to the dcd head.

I also made a DCSH/DCUC gearing up Bruce with diorama:

Uses the same body with an x3 classics magneto head, resculpted the neck area and repainted him. The dio is cobbled together parts and accessories to just be a cave wall with his gear, the cowl/cape is just the figures head and cape reworked.
