Hey guys - I bougght a Darth Maul 1:1 bust about 5 months ago and when I recieved it his ear ring was missing. I bought the bust off of ebay and contacted the seller about it and he insisted that the ear ring was in the packaging when he sent it out. I looked through everything but there was nothing there at all. I contacted the seller back and told him this and he still insisted that the ear ring was there when he shipped it. The seller and I sent messages back and forth to each other for about a month and he eventually stopped responding and just basically told me that it should have been there. So..........in a nutshell, my Maul bust is without an ear ring. :monkey2 Which really freakin sucks!!! :monkey2 BIG TIME!:monkey2

I was wondering if you guys know where I could find a replacement ear ring for him...........or maybe a substitution that I can put in the originals place. the ear as of now just has a hole in it from where the ear ring was supposed to be. I even contacted Sideshow about it to see if they had a spare Maul ear ring laying around......but they dont.

What do you guys suggest?

That's a tough one, they deffinately screwed you over though, it's not some add on accessory it's just part of the bust. If it came off but the seller sent it, they should have done something to make it noticeable and guarantee it didn't get lost, that's just good business.

He didn't buy it direct from Sideshow, so it woudn't do him any good to cantact them. :monkey2

Perhaps you could find like a small silver bead somewhere and just glue it on to get the appearance.

Im with MaulFan. Its not like the earing is fantastically detailed. Get some sculpy (or better yet a real earring that looks similiar) and slap it on there.

It's hard to tell from your pics, but is that a hole in his ear for the earring? I didn't realize it was a separate piece.

Yeah I know - he wasnt too helpful at all - the listing said that the bust was BRAND NEW IN THE BOX - NEVER BEEN OPENED

he was full of it - I was very upset and on top of it he didnt seem like he really cared about helping me out. I dont know what to do to fix this. It just sucks looking at an incomplete defective item everyday - It is one of my favorite pieces that I own :monkey2

Yeah it is a hole where the ear ring should be

I don't believe it is a separate piece, I'm curious now so I'm checking mine out when I get home tonight, but if it's not part of the ear mold, it's put on there very well because in all the times I've looked at it, I was never struck like ooh it's another piece.

Yeah Ive just got this empty hole there. It looks like the hole is a little under a 1/4 inch deep too.

Here's a pic of the ear-stud:

Appears to be a plain stud, devoid of detail. Looks like the clasp was added, too, behind the ear. Should be easy to fix.

Remember though, if the box was never opened, it might have been broken off in the factory. He may have had no idea it was broken, since he never opened it. Thats the reason if I ever buy stuff off of ebay I prefer the items which say "opened for inspection" over the "never been opened" descriptions.

In any case, it sounds like the seller wasn't very helpful to you at all anyway.

I hate when that happens...I only go to ebay when all other options are absolutely exhausted.

On another note though, maybe you could look at this as an opportunity to improve upon the piece. Maybe go through the extra trouble to find out what type of ear ring Park actually used and find one. :) I think this would be really cool and not only would it add to the discussion value of the piece but it would also be partly your work in a sense.

well hows that for bizarre, just looked at mine which is right behind me, looking over my shoulder as i type, and there's no stud on the back, just on the front, but there is no hole where the stud should be, its sculpted and painted as if there was no back to it... jedi mind tricks I think?!?!?!?
:maul :D

I just took a look at my Maul, his ear is 100% perfectly in tact, yet, there is no sign that there should be any stud element coming out the backside, and the inner ear portion that is there seems like it may be glued on instead of molded.

hey MaulFan would you mind, if you have time, to take a close up picture of the ear so I can see what the stud looks like from the front and the side?

I'd just get a stud from a tattoo shop and just glue it in there. Would actually look even better than the original bust did, really authentic and realistic. Wouldn't be a hard fix with the right glue and accelerant.

Here is a pic from the back (rebelscum photo). Clearly there is no stud in back.
