Glad I was able to help, everyone... I've been a huge Maul fan from the first leaked images back in 1999 and was actually quite interested in knowing that little bit of trivia myself.

I still look back at that movie and think that maybe they should have kept the double bladed saber a secret until it came out. I mean, can you imagine how much of a shock it would have been to see that second blade come out in Naboo?? That would have rocked...

As if it didn't kick enough butt already! :D

I mean, you have got to admire Ray Park's talent when it comes to martial arts and fighting... What he accomplished on that film was just mindblowing.

Yeah, Maul really blew me away when I saw Ep1 for the first time and I'm still pretty amazed each time after. Ray Park did a really sweet job during his fight scenes.

Yeah, that bit right after Qui-Gon bites the dust... when Obi and Maul go crazy on each other... Still sends chills down my spine. The sheer intensity and speed of that moment really makes you feel that scene.

Probably more emotion in that moment in the film than in the all of the rest of that particular movie. I was sold on the prequels from that moment on. No contest, lightsaber fight made it all worthwhile. :monkey5

Lucas screwed up when he killed off Maul in TPM. He should have survived to come back in AOTC and only then been dispatched by Obi, Anakin and Yoda in an epic battle (instead of Dooku).

Why did Dooku survive to come back in a second movie when he was as boring as hell, IMHO?

Lucas has a penchant for killing off the coolest characters (Fetts, Sith, Jedi) too early and without giving them an epic death.

Too bad, Darth Maul was the Ultimate Sith killing machine.

Had Maul survived into Ep 2 and/or 3 it would have solved a couple problems those films had -- and would have helped in marketing. But it would have created other problems as well.

The problem with Dooku, IMHO, is two fold. 1) he follows Maul and it's hard to follow Maul for a bad guy. 2) his character was underdeveloped and what was there was almost wholy subtextual. His most telling moment was probably when he confessed that he wished Qui-Gon was around as he needed his help. Yet even that seemed a bit of a tactic to screw with Obi. I mean, I don't know how much he believed in what he was doing (like Grevious) and how much he was in on Palpatine's plan.

I never liked how we go from Maul being the apprentice to it being Dooku, it was ten years, which just seems like a short amount of time to go from one apprentice to the other. Maul being in AOTC and even ROTS would have been great and instead of Dooku being a sith just have him a disillusioned Jedi caught up in the sepratist movement, sorta like he was pretending to be in AOTC. But someone did point out a very important reason for Dooku being a Sith...it showed Sidious he could turn a Jedi to the dark side. There are a few other points I have about Maul and Dooku but can't think of them, but I reckon this is enough, eh?

And from the side...
This guy has a Product Enterprises body, a SS head(from David St. Hubbins!), Hasblo costume, Dragon gloves and boots from who-knows-where( found 'em in the spares bin at SBP). The St. Hubbins head works great sans hair; gotta love that rock star scowl! The horns are Magic Sculpt: the paint is custom(air brush and hand work). Don't bug for more pix; these are all I have for the moment...PS

DAMN!! that's sweet! where's ur Vader at? and what does "SBP" stand for? also do u go over to the MWD board?

Darth Maul was the Boba Fett of the prequels. He was a bad ass who looked cool and said very little. The final battle was one of the best moments in all the prequels. I think there needed to be closure after he got away from Qui-Gon the first time.

Like a punk? Maybe he didn't have as much screen time as we'd like but the comparsions of their deaths...

Maul took out the coolest Jedi ever in the coolest light saber battle ever in the best act 3 of the Star Wars saga and he fell to the Jedi who goes on to be the only one to best Anakin in a duel.

Boba had a wardrobe malfunction that ended him in a giant angry spinctor in the sand.

Come on went out like a punk? He died in a lightsaber duel that aint goin out like a punk.

Coolest death we definitely Maul to me anyways. But I have a hard time saying its the best given Vader coming back to the light before dying...although that too opens up a whole new can of debate worms, dunnit?

Yea he went out like a punk. Granted he did beat a old Jedi Master, but then when he had OB1 in the pit, he got cocky and was acting like a punk. Then the punk got owned!!!!!!!!!!

So what Star Wars VILLAIN had the best death?

Everyone seems to think Maul.

Vader. Getting zapped by Empy and seeing his skeleton and mechanical parts and finishing the job the Force created him to do.

Maul had the coolest. Vader has the one with the biggest impact. Obi-Wan's is up there as well.

That just means he got cocky not that he went out like a punk.

To answer my own question...

I kinda think Grievous had the best death. Out with a big fiery bang. And its the only time Obi-Wan was forced to resort to a blaster.

I would say Anakin's "death" on Mustafar. Getting your legs and an arm cut off before buring alive. That takes the cake for me.

I know he didn't DIE die, but that is really when Anakin dies for me and fully becomes Vader

Jinn + Maul = great fight, and maul going out the way he did was at best pretty spectacular. I believe in one of the books, maul with robotic lower body did come looking for obi wan, so he wasn't dead per se, just my two cents on the issue..........

My Vader is posted under the 12" Vader thread(naturally enough). SBP stands for "Small Blue Planet", a late and much lamented figure store. And yes, I do show up at MWD on a fairly regular basis. And Maul is a punk next to Vader...PS
