Ok, for those interested, here is a breakdown of what I used to make Faramir to go with how I made him.
I used Apple Barrel paints, which can be found at Wal-Mart's crafts section for real cheap. I chose them not for price but out of memory. When I was a kid my mother used them on her crafts and I remembered that she always needed to get gloss medium to make it shine, and since I love very matte paints I knew this brand was the way to go.
The hair was done by using:
1 coat of 20779 Caramel Candy (which wasn't thick enough and let the SSC color show through)
1 coat of 20511 Brown Oxide
2nd coat of 20779 Caramel Candy (was far too blonde)
Final coat of 20779 Caramel Candy mixing dabs of 20511 Brown Oxide in while painting to darken it up a bit.
The face was done by using:
1 coat of 20514 Flesh, which is a bit peachy, mixed with a bit of 20779 Caramel Candy to brown it down to a flesh tone
1 wash of 20779 Caramel Candy for light beard toning
1 wash of 20511 Brown Oxide for beard detailing
1 coat of white paint for the eyes
2nd coat of 20514 Flesh and 20779 Caramel Candy mixture to shape the eyes and cover up excess white while also using the shade to wash over the beard area to thin it down to a stubble look
1 coat of 20533 Crimson mixed with 20779 Caramel Candy to get a more maroon red, applied to the lips then rubbed in some of my skin tone mix into the lip color to take it from lipstick looking to natural shade
1 coat of 20580 Pewter Grey with some white mixed in for the iris'
1 dab of black for pupils
1 dab of white for light spec on the eyes
And that's my "recipe" for Faramir. It took my first attempt at Jack Sparrow to get used to painting a head this small, but once I started on Faramir, my mind was able to work the same on painting a 3D head as it would a flat piece of canvas and my techniques for that applied and worked out.
