Sorry for another political post but this video is very interesting. McCain seems to be trying to calm down some of the anti-American rhetoric associated with Obama. I respect him for this move.

Re: Video: Just saw this on TV. MUST SEE!

Kudos to McCain for saying that Obama is a good, decent family man. It's a bit shocking and disgusting though that his supporters would boo such a statement.

That woman calling Obama an Arab is so sad. Hopefully when/if McCain loses he will encourage his supporters to unify as Americans with the other side and will say some nice things about Barack, or at the very least publicly state that Obama is not a Muslim terrorist and that such thinking is idiotic and dangerous.

And even if Obama were of Arab decent that doesn't mean he would be evil. *sigh*

Right now McCain is trying to do damage control that the negative campaigning has caused. People calling Obama a traitor and a terrorist is not going over well with undecided voters. Those are the people he needs.

Bingo. These attacks were hurting him and now he is trying to take them back so to speak. The booing was startling though...boo the fact that McCain thinks there is no reason to fear Obama? okie dokie...

Re: Video: Just saw this on TV. MUST SEE!

McCain's really flubbed this campaign. He's coming off weak. yesterday or day before when he mentioned Obama and someone in crowd yelled "Terrorist", he did nothing to say it was probably inappropriate. Now, when it's too late, he decides to address it??? I'm certainly not supporting Obama, but McCain has certainly NOT played this election the way his supporters wanted him to.

Re: Video: Just saw this on TV. MUST SEE!

I respect him for doing this, though... Things are starting to get a bit too inflamed, people believing that Obama is a hate mongering Terrorist. It's good to see McCain try to rectify some of it, and it shows that he is a decent guy and doesn't want that kind of stuff on his conscience.

But sadly, stumbles like this will probably lose the race for him.

What happened to pre screening the people who ask the candidate questions ? I dont know if i should feel bad for mcain. He is against it now but last week he had palin telling everybody obama was smokin out at bin ladens cave.

This is what a real townhall is. It is very open and can sometimes be reckless. It is almost like how people react to streakers, they usually have no cameras on them so they do not get any media coverage (which is what they want). Townhalls can validate a lot of really ignorant questions that need not be on TV in the first place. That is why I think there should be a balance between an opened townhall and a prescreened Q and A.

I think McCain is against it now because of the backlash from indys who thought it was really bad form.

I agree that it's a smart move for him to stop people from saying these things, but I don't think it would've gotten to this point if he didn't have Palin out there making a huge stink equating Obama with Ayers this past week.

Re: Video: Just saw this on TV. MUST SEE!

I've always respected the man, as I've said many times, if he were the McCain of 8 years ago, I might have even voted for him.

As bad and as partisan as this campaign is, it's really a breath of fresh air compared to 4 years ago where it seemed we didn't a logical choice for president. Just an idiot and...who ran against Bush...?

Both BO and JC are intelligent men who do seem to have the best interests of the country at heart.

Well said, Dave. You are right there. Both candidates have strong points and they seem to care about the country. Last election was a mess. You had the Idiot and the guy with no backbone or personality. There was no good choice at all.

by the way - I changed the title of the thread. We don't want more threads that don't at least hint at the topic of the thread.
