Glad to hear you pulled through the procedure ... yet sad to read about all of the "fun" you're now dealing with.
Hang in there, bud. Better days are ahead.

Ok so I had my kidney removed due to cancer just 2 days ago while nursing an injured shoulder and neck and I have not one BUT TWO insurance companies so the obvious thing to do was to attempt to discharge me TODAY!!!! :slap

I looked at them like they were Snyder fan boys who love Ezra Miller as the Flash!

Needless to say I refused to be discharged so the hospital discharge representative started to argue with me and stated that Nurses are not just medicine delivery devices and that’s all I need from them at the moment which means I can simply do that at home.

I reminded her that I haven’t even done stairs physical therapy yet nor has my diet been changed from just liquids hell I can’t even cough and that my shoulder is also injured and that MY KIDNEY WAS JUST REMOVED!

Ughh I am so upset right now.

I told her you discharge me today and I’ll come right back to the emergency room.

Holy crap even with dual insurance coverage they still are not happy.

Round 2!

I asked the RN for tylenol iv and it didn’t come so I asked for an update and the same person that I had the heated discussion with earlier about my discharge came to the room and said that the tylenol iv is over $1,000 a shot and that i’m no longer eligible for them I have used up my allotment for my stay!

I was like….

I have never had anyone in a hospital bring up the cost of an item to me and tell me that i’m not eligible due to cost.

Needless to say i’m super upset.

Whatever happened to "First, do no harm"?

Everything is a business. Never forget that!

My mom is on medicare and we all wanted her out of there, but they wouldn't let her leave. They had to get her COPD/breathing down to a certain number. If she walks around, of course it is going to drop. The gallbladder stuff was all good.

It seemed like a bunch of hogwash as she could have just taken a oxygen tank home like she has now. They probably know that government money can be milked hard.

What the actual ... seriously this is beyond the pale. I've actually had some Americans claim their healthcare system is awesome and then I hear stories like this. Jesus, you should move somewhere civilized.
