Re: Medicom Dark Knight Batman - Photo Thread

This figure sucks for accessories though. So badly. PERS is a huge advantage for photography. That too is a let down for the Medicom. The accessories on the Hot Toys is quite amazing if not mind blowing. I'm fascinated with the two piece gun and the stand. The Medicom gets a dorky clear horrid cheap looking stand.

Re: Medicom Dark Knight Batman - Photo Thread

I still find it so strange how they could make such a great Batman but their Joker and Two-Face efforts are extremely laughable!! I'll be very surprised if anybody actually buys their Two-Face at all considering the Hot Toys version wasn't a top seller.

Re: Medicom Dark Knight Batman - Photo Thread

I agree about the accessories, the DX will never be beaten on that front.

But in terms of just the figure by itself, no accessories, stands etc, I truly believe that visually it is better than the DX. The medicom is a more accurate and nicer looking figure, imo. The Hot Toys figs are better put together, more solid and that, but in terms of looks I just think the Medicom wins, hands down.

But that's not to say the Hot toys is bad, it's bloody fantastic. I was blown away when I first saw the official pictures and specs!

I'd be happy with either figure. At such an amazing level of quality that these toys give us these days, it's just nit-picking. I'm just of the opinion the medicom has the Hot toys beat in terms of looks and accuracy. The other aspects and Hot toys wins.

Yeah I know but I said the FIGURE, not accessories

Re: Medicom Dark Knight Batman - Photo Thread

I know you did however... The accessories make up the figure plus the stand gives the overall final appearance. Is which really comes into play for me. Stand the Medicom on it's own with it's own clear stand and it looks quite bland! You would think, something is missing or isn't quite feeling that premium status feel to it.

Buy a Hot Toys stand and it gives an added final touch. Accessories make all the difference for the overall look and completeness.

The same could be said about the DX if you take away it's accessories.

Hmm I can honestly see what you're saying there!

Accessories don't always make up the figure, and at least he comes with batarangs and a grapnel gun am I correct?

And the stand isn't that big of a deal for me. While sure, it would have been nice to have a unique one, I'm not going to ^^^^^ about it. Medicom is still developing I think.

I think they get alot of crap from HT fans

Re: Medicom Dark Knight Batman - Photo Thread

I'll say this much: Compared to the V.1 TDK Batman from HT, this Medicom Bats looked great. Just because it was slimmer. Still had problems, significant problems, but those were overlooked because it was slim. Now that HT has released proto pics of their DX TDK Batman, at the very least some of the appeal/wow factor of the Medicom figure has been lost imo. It just looks more shabby now. :lol

With significant mods it looks great (still has some inaccurate bits) but then again who knows what the DX Batman will look like with equal modication.

Still too early to say definitively either way which one is better though.

I have to disagree. The Medicom figure is seriously lacking in the accessories department. He does come with the batarangs and grapple gun but unless he is holding them there you cant put them anywhere on his belt. I was hoping to be able to put his gun on the back of the belt or on its side like in the movie but now it just sits in my desk. The batarangs dont really do anything either. I with the figure would have come with an extra cape tho. I like the idea of a posable wired cape but when I dont have it posed flowing it looks kinda odd. An extra unwired cape would have been great.

Also, with this costing more than the Hot Toys Batman and a little less than the DX, I think it NEEDS more accessories. I payed around $180 for him and all he has are two batarangs and a grapple gun? The Hot Toys one cost less and came with a Bale head, a belt that held the accessories, mini mine, grapple gun, and batarangs. Not much more but I think you get the point.

The stands not that big of a deal to me either although it could be better. Im not sure they are still "developing" tho because its been the same for a LONG time.

I agree about medicom getting alot of crap too. Even tho their stuff is more expensive, I still love medicom :monkey5

I know, but I think Medicom might being having money issues? Maybe, I'm not sure. But there is likely a cause to their sometimes lacking accessories and ok paint jobs.

But yeah, I love Medicom, I'm going to get this guy soon, and then The Rocketeer v2.5

My neighbor has the Medi Bats, but he never lets me really touch him, because he is one of those guys who is like "I put them in the display case, and they don't get touched." So I want one for myself :p

Totally agree Mr Nygma....I have both Medi and HT Dark Knight and Medi is far superior...not in terms of quality but in terms of accuracy. I look at my HT now in DIGUST due to how wrong it it.

And the guys who are complaining about accessories
1, if you have a medi..buy some accessories off ebay for it
2, Batman dosen't need anything imo - none of my batmans hold guns or batarangs they all have fists
3, the dx batman is still wrong..the only appeal it has is its accessories
-sticky bomb gun
-dx stand
-magnetic belt

the main pulling point of HT are the pers/ sonar eyes

Re: Medicom Dark Knight Batman - Photo Thread

You really liked the fig, man!:lol

Hell yes :D

While I'm waiting for the head modifications, I just put the Bruce Wayne head from HT on it, so again new pics. :lol

Re: Medicom Dark Knight Batman - Photo Thread

Small_Studio's or Rismo?

Rismo

Feeling bad that I've not send the head to small, because I've contacted him first, but loved the modifications from Rismo a little more, so I couldn't resist...

Hope he can excuse me :(

Re: Medicom Dark Knight Batman - Photo Thread

Rismo's looks more lifelike than Small_Studio's I felt. Can't wait to see your pics of it.

Re: Medicom Dark Knight Batman - Photo Thread

Go on then....why?

leggs are to bulky and the look of it is cheaper than Hot Toys

Do not be offended Medicom lovers, before the DX of Hot Toys I was a fan of the Medicom.
But now that Hot Toys has made a much more accurate figure (still not 100%) it has gone to the same level as the Medicom in terms of sculpt.

The sculpt was the element that made de medicom superior to the V1 Hot Toys. So when Hot Toys fixed that obstacle, what elements of the Medicom can make Medicom overall superior?

Medicom = very good sculpt (head) but cheap looking material
Hot Toys = with the DX also a very good sculpt + many extras + overall beter looking quality

again, I am not starting a fanboy war between Medicom and Hot Toys, nor do I wish to start one! As said already, before the DX, the Medicom was the only figure of TDK worthy to be called a movie accurate replica of TDK batman.
But Hot Toys has imo answerd Medicom

1. Im not really looking for alot more accessories. More would be nice because I payed alot but atleast let them be put on the belt so I dont loose them. I dont really think thats asking for too much.
2. I agree that I dont really pose my figure with him holding batarangs or anything most of the time but I still want somewhere to put them. I think ive lost almost all my batarangs from my takara and medicom batman :(
3. I feel the same. I just like the light up sonar eyes :monkey5

The legs are pretty much near accurate for thickness. I'll admit it looks cheaper due to the form of vinyl. At least the particles don't stick to it however.

Damn, you've lost them all?

You should have just kept them in it's respective boxes. You can mount the grapple gun like I did though. It's very easy. https://www.sideshowcollectors.com/forums/showpost.php?p=1809419&postcount=297
