SS sculpting is far from superior, paint apps maybe. And they always say, "you get what you pay for".

I am sorry, but I respectfully have to disagree.

Sideshow's Luke looks like Mark. Medicom's doesn't. Sure Medicom's expression is much better than the "awe" Luke, but its the likeness that counts on a figure based on an actor. Luke's head and hands to seems a bit too big I'll admit as well. Proportionately, Medicom seems to be better, but I'm still not quite sure what scale they are supposed to be? 1:6.5?

To be fair,

Vs

Nothing. Sideshow really has no excuse IMO for not having armored characters like Boba, Troopers, and Vader. Like I said earlier, Medicom wins when it comes to armored characters.

I think it's undeniable that SSC human sculpting is far superior than the majority of sculpts we've seen from Medicom over the years.

I really don't have anything againts Medicom, but they just do not appeal to me (especially at the price). I'm not trying to start a Sideshow vs Medicom debate. I'm willing to admit Sideshow has their flaws as well.
You've just compared a high end figure to Hasbro. IMO that's either an exaggeration on your part or youre subconsciously trying to start something.

IMO no high end company at their worst moment should be rationally compared to a $20 Hasbro figure.

I agree. They should not be compaired, but I sadly do consider Medicom's human likeness (with the exception of their newer figures like Jango and Wolverine) to be on the lines of Hasbro's BEST sculpting. The first Jack is one of Medicom's worst likenesses IMO. Jack never had hair like that, and he doesn't look very much like Kiefer. Hasbro's Dooku and Jango were probably their greatest sculpts ever. Most of their stuff did (and still does) suck. I don't know how many Lukes and Hans they made that looked more like stuntmen than the characters.

While I'm not trying to degrade Medicom, I just can't see the quality in their human headsculpts. I admit that I have never see one of their figures in person. If/when I do, I'm sure my mind would change, but I can only judge based on what I can see in pics online.

To get back on topic, their Season 5 Jack is definately an improvement one the first, but even McFarlane's 7" figure has a much better likeness. Sorry.

Seems to me you were trying to start something with Buttmunch.

I didn't feel that way though. I thought Nash was just supporting his thoughts. I try to be fair and friendly to everyone and respect their opinions wether I agree or disagree with them.

Now lets all keep calm and friendly here, please.

On that note, I really need to go to bed since it is 1:20 in the morning here.

I'm a Medicom supporter and agree that Wolverine and apparently Jango are great sculpts.

It does seem that recently Medicom has made an effort to move away from the caricature/anime look to more realistic sculpts. I have their Connery Bond from the 90s and it's very much a cariacture.

Scissorhands is a fantastic figure, but looks very little like Depp from that film. Since Medicom has been in a relationship with SSC they're human figures have dramatically improved. It could be a coincidence, or it could be that they are trying to appeal to a more global audience, but whatever the reason - it's a good thing.

Just curious, Apart from the American/Western actors, what other medicom headsculpts you guys know about?

Ever seen their Japanese actors headsculpts?

Luke, Luke!!! LUKE LUKE LUKE !! LUKE LUKE LUKE LUKE LUKE LUKE LUKE LUKE LUKE LUKE!!! LUKE LUKE LUKE LUKE LUKE!! BUT WAIT THERES MORE!!! LUKE LUKE LUKE LUKE LUKE LUKE!! YES MORE LUKE!!!

I respect Buttmunch's opinions in regards to the Medi Bauer, I don't think it's a great likeness of Keifer Sutherland at all.

The McFarlane figure really isn't any better though, at least based on the pic I've seen of it, it looked horrible.

If you've seen something I haven't like a more recent pic please show me, but the figure I saw was a terrible likeness.

Am I the only one who thinks this looks like Timothy Dalton?

I can't recognize Kiefer in this figs at all.

Hmm....he looks 100% better in person but no it doesn't look like Dalton to me even in the slightest. He looks like an amped up version of Kiefer to me. His face is too narrow and too young looking. A good repaint will help him out considerably in my opinion. Medicom has always had a bit of problem with flesh tones being too light in my opinion. Just as SS has a problem with them looking too dark in my opinion, ie Pierce Brosnan.

Cheers,

Brad

Hmm....look at my banner. Which 24 are you watching? Sure the color is off but the haircut is pretty darn close. It just needs to be messed up a bit.

Cheers,

Brad
