Not sure if you've all seen this, but Mafex put up a photo of Phasma on their Twitter. Also looks like her release date is now 2/23.

The chrome and weathering is much better than the silver and clean one from Tamashii.

But the helmet seems to be way off and the cape is too short imo, I hope the height compensates it.

Then again, might be the poser's issue and camera angle.

Yeah I'm thinking the helmet has to be distortion now, judging from product pictures which look a lot more accurate. You're right about the cape, hopefully the angle is exacerbating that as well. Eager to see more photos, please post if anyone finds any. Would like to see more before I get an invoice.

I seriously hope that the pose and angle is an issue, the prototype is fine as hell.

I think you're right for sure. And you know I will post if I see anything! Lol

With the photos right next to each other, it makes it seem even more like the proportions are stretched and squashed by the camera. Almost like a fish-eye lens, which definitely happens with camera phones up close. The legs look like toothpicks compared to proto photos haha

I really hope they didn't try vac-metallizing any soft plastic parts on that Phasma. If they did it's going to be one unholy mess after a few months...

Fwoosh did a review on Kylo: https://thefwoosh.com/2017/02/medicom-mafex-kylo-ren

And I've made a comparison of the sculpt, which I believe was tweaked for mass production or details might be lost due to mass production.

They will not be using any 3D Printing on their faces as mentioned in the previous posts as it might increase their production cost, I will receive mine tomorrow and make a proper review.

But this is very typical of Medicom even back in the early 2000s. Even so, Medicom had a decade of history to be blacklisted by most but why are they still being purchased?

Because it's a Japanese brand and they have the license to produce figures of rare or even huge titles that everyone wants?

I'm not sure why you keep saying that about the face printing (I've heard it before on this thread, sorry if it wasn't in fact you who said it before) but they are definitely using SHF style face printing... Just look at Finn, unless it's 1/6 there's no way that's handpainted. Thats the actors face overlaid on. The printing your referring too is already in use on this kylo, for his eyebrows. You can see the dot matrix in close up images

Even though that may be true and judging from the Mafex unmasked Kylo, I think Figuarts 3D printing is still much better.

Hopefully Mafex will improve it down the line because so far based off the production photos of their Kylo, it's no where near the quality of Figuarts.

Yeah, kylos not great. But the only printing on him is the eyebrows pattern. Finn has the eyes, shading, lips, shadowing even, very similar to SHF. Id say that, going ONLY off the promo images for Finn (which could of course look worse in release) the printing is more detailed then some recent SHF releases

Once again the Mafex line shows potential to be the best 6" import line. But they keep screwing up in big ways. If they get their act together they could very well become better than Figuarts, but that seems highly unlikely.

It's quite impressive when you have it on hand. Needs a lot of fiddling to pose to it properly, sort of like how you handle a 12 inch but smaller.
