Re: Thoughts on ver 2 Medicom C3PO and R2D2 droids

Are SS ever going to do these in 1/6? I need the droid but Im not paying stupid prices for out of scale figures.

edit: Nevermind, I just saw them on that confirmed in development list.
Can you share the link? or is this from the first post on this board? if so weren't they referring to these medicom ones?

Re: Thoughts on ver 2 Medicom C3PO and R2D2 droids

I have several hasbro modified ones and the version 1 medis. The medi are simply better. Sorry the scale might be a bit out and they at stupidly expensive ( got might on offer) but they are brillant. If the new metal are better are will try and buy them but they will need to be awesome. Seriously thinking if getting the version 2s if I can kind them at a decent price.
I have might displayed together but on their own shelf and love em!!

Re: Thoughts on ver 2 Medicom C3PO and R2D2 droids

Received my medi r2 tonight.
Very cool.
Gotta say, I have the taito r2d2 projection alarm which is supposed to be the true 1/6 scale so I was worried this medicom might be too little, but in hand, not really noticeable.
The scale is perfectly fine to me.

It's a great looking figure, the lights are pretty bright. The paint is superb.
So it basically just comes down to the price as a negative, cause other than that, it's a solid figure.

In some ways I'm wondering if I should have waited for a SS release. Just hope I don't end up regretting my purchase.

You'd be waiting a long time for SS to release theirs I think.

:exactly:
The Medi droids are really impressive. Strangely R5D4 is the best, even though it doesn't even have lights. IMO. The paint work, sculpting, textures, best I have seen on droids (apart from price).

I dont think you will. I think you will love this. As I mentioned, the scale isnt really an issue, not noticeable in hand. So basically, the only negative I give this figure is price...That's it. Its an excellent looking figure.
I was also reluctant in the beginning cause of the price and end up wasting my money getting that damn taito everyone was hailing about but I'm a firm believer in you get what you pay for.
The taito was nice...a nice gift for my little nephew.

If you have both in hand, you'll see that the Taito, looks like cheap plastic.
The Medicom on the other hand looks excellent. Very cool subtle weathering, excellent paintjob all around, nice sculpt...very nice details, just much much more improved in every way. And once you turn the lights on, he just looks amazing. :)

It was for me... :monkey2

Yeah, I had the opportunity to handle one of these for a while and place it next to a bunch of different SSC figs (even Boba) and it just didn't really fit scale-wise.

I would actually argue the reverse to what was stated above - in photos I thought it sort of worked scale-wise next to some SSC figs, but in-hand it just looked too small next to any of them.

The Medi Threepio is a very nice piece though (love the finish and many of the details) but the head definitely looked the wrong shape both in pics and in-hand.

What a find! HLJ has C3P0 for $165 USD and R2 for $150, back order 4-6 weeks.

also Vader 2.0 for $200 USD (backorder)

I just ordered all three! :)

Wow what a steal I just picked up both for $500 :slap

Love them, except 3po's right shoulder joint is loose, which kind of prevents me from posing him in a certain way. I guess because of the weight of his arm and loose joint gravity just pulls it down. Anyone know of a solution to tightening it?

Take off his back section, where the batteries go in and you should see some screws. Unscrew this and the torso should come apart, be careful if it doesn't as its very thin plastic. If you get to this stage, also be careful of the head, as it can easily fall out of place and then the wires get yanked (messing up the eye lights).

After this delicate surgery is done you will have the torso in 2 halves, you can see how the arms are inserted and you can easily just take them out, and if its loose it probably needs more friction such as a thin coat of varnish or nail polish.

Let it dry and put it all back together, carefully making sure the wires are in a void and won't get trapped by the plastic shell of the torso when you are rescrewing it.

It is all really easy, I've had my TC14 (same mould) apart dozens of times thinking how to customise one into a death star droid (that hasn't happened yet haha)

edit: if this sounds absolutely terrifying due to the cost of the figure and you still want the arm tightened, I might be able to get some pics of mine apart sometime, if that would help!

Have you taken any pics yet Remy?

I am keen on seeing this Medi R2D2

Just PO'd the Bandai 3PO and with no guarantees they will be making an R2 I am very interested in this one.

How is the scaling? Has it been resolved?

Cheers :)

Edit: Is this the one you have Remy https://www.hlj.com/product/MEDRAH-581

Scale is the same as before I believe. But both Medi R2 units are just amazing in hand. The sharpness of detail and quality of plastic used is just perfect IMO. I actually can't see how it could be bettered (apart from scale)..
