No. I modified it. It was about a 1/4 inch too short so I pulled him apart, made the waist post longer, wrapped the mid section with black fabric, and added the wires. I know it looks like a mess but it really does look better in hand. I was going for the messy midsection that I've seen in a lot of pics instead of the really organized looking wires. At least he is the right height now.

I apologize, I really wasn't trying to insult. Indeed I did put my foot in my mouth.

No hard feelings I hope.

Sorry for posting this AGAIN but just in case anyone was looking for a correct 1/6 scale R2 like the one in this pic

it's for sale here. A little steep since I got mine for $40.00 shipped but at least everyone will know where to get one.

It is a full 7 inches tall and fully articulated including third retractable leg.

Perfect scale for R2. Much taller and wider than hasbro. Looks great in this shot too.

I wish they were my pics. The hasbro has always suffered from some panels that are inset or counter sunk so the painters had easy guidelines to paint the blue panels on the dome. What I really like about the Taito is the panels are flush with the surface of the dome. Separated but flush. Looks much more real than the hasbro.

Quick articulation question about this figure - is the neck joined to either the head or the torso, or is a separate piece that moves independently? Just wondering how the ball joint/head articulation works.

the neck on the medi c3po is a separate piece, it is a ball joint from body to neck, and neck to head is a far more stubborn kind of joint but it still moves. Theres the wiring for the eyes that runs down the middle of all this impeding removal though, unless you're a toy surgeon

Thanks! Sounds pretty complicated in there.

Just curious to those who have a Medicom R2D2, I saw a video where one of the lights where blinking and much like the movie, the lights would change red then blue.
But on all other Medicom R2D2 videos, the lights are static, they dont blink.
Is the blinking one maybe just on the non-talking version, or do both non and talking version blink, but maybe you have to hold down a button to make it blink?

Thoughts on ver 2 Medicom C3PO and R2D2 droids

Couldn't see too much discussion on these droids. Just picked these droids up. They look great, but the prices are unreasonable. Would have been great if R2 could do more. Still classic droids that I needed in my collection so I'm a sucker :slap

Anyone else get these?

Re: Thoughts on ver 2 Medicom C3PO and R2D2 droids

Just bought a Medi R2d2recently but still waiting for it to arrive.
I wanted one so bad but like a lot of people, the price was the factor.

I bought one of those r2d2 projection alarm and modded it to look close to the Medi.
I thought I actually did a great job. Was very happy with it.
But the next day after I painted it, I decided to touch up some areas and when I was moving the figure around, the smudged the metallic blue paint all over the place. I figured since it had been 24 hours already, it would have been dry. I used acetone to try to take some of the paint off, instead made it worse.

Was soo pissed off at myself, and didnt want to be without an r2d2 now so I said screw it. Yeah, it is expensive, but it is the best 1/6 scale r2 out there anyway.
I am looking forward to getting it though. Watched a lot of those youtube reviews and I do want one. But yeah, wish it was cheaper.

Re: Thoughts on ver 2 Medicom C3PO and R2D2 droids

I got a steal off ebay for them some time ago (I since sold them). It depends on how picky you are about scale as their smaller than SS / HT and out of scale with each other. Otherwise, they looked awesome on the shelf together.....

Edit: My experience was first version...

Re: Thoughts on ver 2 Medicom C3PO and R2D2 droids

Not as expensive as the Tamashi

Re: Thoughts on ver 2 Medicom C3PO and R2D2 droids

That's the only thing I'm worried about, I forgot all about the tamashii when I bought my Medi. Hope I dont regret it.
Gotta say, the c3po is very impressive.
My diorama is a dagobah scene so i wasnt planning on buying any c3po, but if I did, I probably would have bought the tamashii.
They are very impressive, and their attention to detail, the fact that its metal, I think they're worth it.

Now, from what I saw though, r2d2 needed some work. The head was chromed, throwing it off.
But, if the final version of r2d2 is the same as c3p0 which is as close to shrinking the 1:1 to 1/6, hmmm...I may have to nab that tamashii r2d2.

Re: Thoughts on ver 2 Medicom C3PO and R2D2 droids

Not as expensive as the Tamashi

Ya but from just comparing the pics of both the medi and the tamashi if I had to buy either one I would just spring for the Tamashi. If I am going to dive into the deep end I may as well drown :rotfl

Re: Thoughts on ver 2 Medicom C3PO and R2D2 droids

Are SS ever going to do these in 1/6? I need the droid but Im not paying stupid prices for out of scale figures.

edit: Nevermind, I just saw them on that confirmed in development list.
