Nice snake and beautifully photographed. Though I don't mind snakes at all, I would never have one as a pet. You just can't cuddle with them and you usually have to feed them live critters.

You can cuddle with my King Snake Ween. His name is Sir Hiss. :naughty

Pretty snake. I use to catch snakes and lizards and sell them in elementary school.

That is a beautiful Cali King. I grew up catching snakes all over the place since we lived in the sticks.

I caught a bunch of Speckled Kings, coachwhips, garters, bown water snakes, rat snakes and one cotton mouth...by accident. :lol

Years ago I bought a young Cali King and a pair of gray banded Kings which I think are the coolest looking snakes ever.

Thanks, she is beautiful. I also have a Pueblan Milk Snake called Buzz, but he doesn't really stay still for photos:lol

Sounds like you had a great time catching all those snakes:)

Feeding videos, please.

I had a friend who rescued a gorgeous albino Burmese python (named her Eve), and he would feed her in his kitchen (didn't have a cage, so she lived in a closet until he found her a home). We'd just let the rat out and the snake would hunt it on the kitchen floor. Always a good show.

:lol Yeah, that would be fun to watch.

Are these the snakes that eat..... other snakes :yess:

Yep, hence the name "King" snakes. :lecture

I have to admit I have never understood the desire to own snakes, spiders, lizards and such as "pets".

No offense to those who do, but I've just never understood it. They give and receive no affection at all and honestly you just kind of look at them and say "yep, there is my pet lizard" :lol

Me neither to be honest, I always thought them a kind of wierd 'pet' to have but I gotta admit that this face:

....is really VERY cute. which is really suprising for me as I never liked snakes.
x :peace

With snakes and reptiles in general I think you are just into them or not. I've owned snakes off and on since I was 15. Currently I have a carpet python that I've raised since it was a couple months old. I got it when it was around 10 inches and now is around 7ft. I like them for the simple fact that they are as low of maintenance a pet as you can get. You can feed it once a month and fill its water dish when it gets emptied. Not to difficult at all. As long as you handle them with some frequency when they are younger they get used to you as well. I've been bit twice. Once the day I brought him home and the other this past year. The latter hurt.... alot... for a few weeks... It was my fault though, I made a rookie mistake and he thought my hand was food.

When I want something that wants attention I have two dogs that can't get enough. For some reason we have two cat's as well. The only time they want attention is when its time for them to be fed. Aside from that they just sleep or puke up a hairball. That is a pet I don't get the fascination. Maybe its the cats in question. I know some can be playful but mine are bums who think they rule the house.

Nice looking snake and awesome pics! Congrats!!
