I'm all for expanding the Mega Man lore, but I think Capcom can do it while keeping the same style they've used for the last couple decades. That's where we disagree, I guess.

And to answer your first question: Yes, Bomberman: Act Zero was very real. :lol

Well I the same style as in 8-bit? It had it's place, but the reason they went back to it is because the Mega Man games as they went on got worse. So they took it back to 8-bit hoping the nostalgia factor would help it sell. Just because it's the way they were in the 80s, doesn't mean almost 25 years later they need to be the same in every aspect.

We've been there done that, it's time to get a new take on Mega Man.

Agreed. They need more Mega Man X games:

MMX4 FTW! :rock

You act as if Mega Man X1-4 didn't do well with the fans (which it did). It started slacking with X5 (which was still good imo). Mega Man X4 sold very well and received solid reviews, but I guess you're more important than the rest of the fan base.

I only liked the first MMX, which is one of the best SNES games ever. But the others paled in comparison. They were all basically the same plot device rehashed a million different ways. Maverick Rebellion continues, new Mavericks take place of old ones....X fights them...zzzzzz...

When did I say I was more important than the rest of the fanbase? You have to make this personal just because I don't like your beloved anime, or this over the top japanese storytelling in my games? Assumptions.

I simply state that a beloved game needs to evolve rather than devolve. Taking Mega Man back to 8-Bit doesn't solve anything in the long run. Sure fans are all up in it right now for nostalgia factor, but what about the last few MM games on the NES they were nothing to write home about at all. The greater sum of all of the original games lack any originality. It's copy and paste over and over again. And the character and the story within, deserves a treatment that would bring mega man back to the masses as well as gain new fans.

Maybe because you want the whole style of the franchise to be changed where the fan base think it's fine as is? :cuckoo: As for the beloved anime comment, I've made it pretty clear that I'm not a huge fan. I don't know if you don't read full posts or skim through them too fast, but I don't know how I can make it any clearer lol. I've even said things like:

Ryu said:
I dislike about 80% of the popular anime some people have suggested to me and it doesn't help that so much of the popularity of anime here is driven by the sort of people who think that anime is some special godsend medium with a special insight into humanity and they'll definitely go live in japan when they grow up

Maybe it's just me, but I think calling MM9 and MM10 only good for nostalgia is pretty disingenuous. The games are just fun and well designed/produced. Nostalgia is a big factor for me but it's not for my kid who wasn't alive last century, but he's totally hooked on Mega Man and has gone back and played the games on the Anniversary Collection as well as Maverick Hunters on the PSP.

The base Mega Man series and Mega Man X are just some of the finest games ever made no matter how you look at it.

Story has always played second-fiddle to gameplay in the Mega Man franchise, and I think Capcom embraced that for MM9 and 10. And while they did obviously go for the nostalgia factor in those recent games, Capcom did utilize their 20 years of experience making MM games when developing MM9 and 10. They are the probably the most well designed MM games ever made in regards to level and weapon design. They really learned from mistakes made in previous MM and MMX games.

I'm saying use the story, just because it's always played second fiddle doesn't mean it always has to. Look at what the Protomen did to the storyline, it's epic as hell. If only Capcom would do the same.

I don't think the Protomen would exist if Capcom spelled the story out like that. A big part of Mega Man's appeal is that you get just enough story for your imagination to fill in the blanks.

I don't think that's any of the appeal at all. I think it would have more appeal if they paid more attention to it, and took it out of 8-bit and gave a nice graphics rehaul to it.
