On one foot i sort of understand the route they went as Big Boss had the potential to be a very expandable character, I thought what they did with him story wise in MGS3 was pretty clever at the time
They ruined it with PW in all honestly and then carried on developing that side of him and it's just completely bastardised him as a whole. Kojima is now stuck (again) with contradictions in the timeline and with the characters he's spent years trying to make a square fit into a circle
I agree totally, they really mishandled the Solid Snake/Big Boss crossover

Oh I too love Big Boss in MGS3, it's just that after MGS4 and PW he's an overly bloated character with issues letting go. How many custcenes with him moping with the Boss do we need? Yet for some reason he's the new poster boy for MGS. Don't tell me you didn't wanted Snake to snuff him with a pillow in MGS4 during his long, looooong speech?

What pisses me off is that the retconning of giving things to BB prior to Solid. Such as lines, specific circumstances, bandana...
