I still don't know what to make of this...but the people on MFC are trying their best to sound 'methodical' about it among st the confusion :lol ronri, I don't know if you've seen any of those comments
Spoiler-tagging to avoid clutter:

Nothing as absurd as Snake and the Avengers, but there are some questionable choices in the way they price certain ones. We have Oshino Shinobu, no doubt the most popular character in one of the most successful ongoing series since 2009 (the Monogatari series), with her Figma literally being only 400 yen away from Saber 2.0 and Red Pyramid Thing's price. While sure she comes with some decent accessories/parts, they essentially cut down on the usual count of face plates, instead showcasing her figFix version as a complementary piece (which was simultaneously released and advertised as being interchangeable with the Figma in terms of parts).

The pricing feels even more ludicrous since Shinobu was purposefully designed to resemble the older Figma models to match the other characters in the series, and that's not even accounting for the fact that she's one of the smallest characters they've ever produced (with Saber 2.0 and Red Pyramid Thing literally dwarfing her in terms of size). Beyond that, we get random small exclusives that needs an extra 1000 yen or so for piecemeal accessories (Haruka Nanase's mackerel, Matoi Ryuuko's Mako cut-up) when they could have easily been included in the standard release. Their recent release of Sinon from the (sadly) popular Sword/Art Online is already reaching around 5000 yen for a fairly standard release, which is already above Saber 2.0 and Red Pyramid Thing.

Aside from Figmas, we've had prices bouncing around as of recent with GSC pricing some of their figures above and beyond what everyone else is putting out (confidence in their skill perhaps? though I'd argue that they're not the tightest in terms QC). The worst I can I recall was their overall handling of their Mikasa Ackerman scale figure. They put her up at a pretty high price, slapping an extra 1000-2000 yen on the bonus version JUST so you can get her proper rooftop base. I'd argue that the figure wouldn't have sold as much as it did if it wasn't the first proper scale figure from a big company based on the popular show. The exclusive version with the rooftop base was priced even higher than their Motorcyle Saber from Fate/Zero a couple years back, despite the latter being literally a much bigger figure in terms of overall volume and size.

When other companies followed suit, not only were they often priced lower than GSC's regular and "complete" version of Mikasa, they also came with proper bases arguably possessing the same volume and size as GSC's exclusive release. It's only recently with Eren Yeager that they've decided to finally include the base with the standard release, which is pretty glaring when you realize how Eren costs as much as Mikasa while the latter doesn't even have a proper base for her standard release.

But yeah again, I'm not so much bagging them out as a whole. They make REALLY good stuff, but considering how other companies have managed to temper their prices while arguably maintaining the same quality, it certainly makes GSC (and to some degree, Max Factory's handling and bizarre fluctuation of their Figma prices) look a bit fishy in comparison.
Yeah I've seen some odd prices here and there; the fact that smaller Figmas like Nagisa Momoe is the standard price is bad.

It's worth noting that other companies like Bandai didn't suffer nearly the same amount of 'problems' GSC had with some of their licenses; the Avengers are nearly $60 with minimal but Bandai's Iron Man figures are $50 with more stuff, and with a little diecast in the feet as well.

There's also been the exclusive releases like Pokemon Red and Akuma Homura from Madoka Magica: Rebellion. Something is really ****ing wrong here especially with what you said on Mikasa, I've noticed that too.

The main thing is...with lines like The Avengers, GSC usually said WHY they were so expensive in comparison to other Figmas. There's no explanation about Solid Snake.

Yeah. I went with AmiAmi. A gun that may get released again with another figure down the line (MGS2 Raiden and/or MGS1 Snake) and a piece of cardboard I'll never use aren't worth the 3,000 yen.

Exactly what I was thinking. The fact that Snake didn't really use the SOCOM in MGS2 leaves me a bit cold with the way they included it here. I'd rather get the SOCOM with Raiden or MGS1 Snake, so yeah I just don't see how the exclusive is in anyway worth it beyond being an "exclusive".

I just checked MFC and all I can say is....... WTF is going on there!? :lol

Exactly. The Madoka Magica figures as of recent, Pokemon Red etc. It's ridiculous how much the price fluctuates depending on "certain" properties (read: popular) despite these very same figures having equally as many or even less accessories than the norm. So far I haven't seen GSC make any statements about Snake's price. It's really questionable to say the least.

Gave in and PO'd the exclusive Snake with a friend. Saved 10 bucks but still stings a little.

Also got this combo set from Japan today :rock

got me a gsc mgs2 snake ex. so weird though, i was going over my bank statement and i just got charged $1 from bbts. i wonder if its from me preordering the gzbb statue on the 26th. didnt know they charged that each po. anyone else aware of this?

nice anubis! why did they give you 2 copies of the ps4 gz game though?

Oh because one was the complete konami style package, that one was sealed in the original shipper box and the premium package only the game had been opened.

Count me in the camp that got priced out of the Figma. That's just plain insulting. And for me personally, the worst part is he doesn't even have a functional holster for his side-arm! That's just inexusable.

a2themonster, no 1/4 scale statues just 2 1/6 scale of mgrr raiden and gz big boss. there will however be a reproduction in 1/1 of big bosses metallic arm that is pose-able.

bedil, i think that was a shinkawa collection piece, i dont think well ever see it on our shelves.

otomo, i hear you, but i bet itll be cheaper buying direct from japan.

The Solid Snake price is ridiculous. I'm judging it's because the MGS license is pricy, especially in light of new games coming out soon. I pre-ordered the exclusive from Goodsmile...

I'm not a big MGS collector, but I can't pass up anything this awesome and that is MGS2 Solid Snake. I'll bite the bullet on the price...

Here's a shop out of Jersey that I've seen people recommend. There's no charge to pre-order (just make sure to pay when the order comes in) and they have him for $70.

Did one of you wish on a monkey's paw? We finally get a high quality MGS2 Snake figure, but it's the wrong Snake wearing Solid's Snake's clothes! And they're charging $78! They're a crafty bunch. They started with giving Snake an eyepatch in MGS4, and now they're infiltrating our toys!

I'm just kidding around. Besides the blue eyes, it looks more like Solid Snake. I was planning on buying this and even considered buying a couple. I think its ridiculous to pay this much money, so I won't be supporting this. I'm happy for everyone else though! It looks amazing, it's just too much for me.
