i bought the joint for neck articulation. i want side to side movement and am more than willing to design a joint for him. mines perfectly intact right now but be assured it will go under the knife as soon as i have a solid plan. im pretty daring but im not going to F up my $500 toy. when i have the plan and its done im going to send out the joint to be color matched by a painter. ive always been the type of person to obsess until something is perfect. if i could come in contact with a second rex id build the mgs4 rex of my dreams. itd have to be a bambaland ex though.

This is one thing that really disappointed me about the figure. The legs don't flex enough to do the low crouch or the flat swimming position. His torso can crouch really well, but then the legs are left very tall, which looks kinda dumb. I really wish we could have done this position, but he doesn't have the articulation in any of the joints to match it.

I finally decided to just put him in his resting state.

You know the torso release button on his back? Does your RAY just drop once you release it? I can twist mine left or right, but it seems silly it can't hold an upward position because it falls back under it's own weight.

You're going for head turning!? That's going to be awesome to see. It's so retarded it didn't already have it.

Damn right. It's so UGLY. They could of made a more subtle looking stand. It's like "oh look, RAY is coolBUT THAT STAND IS HUGE!

You know what might be an awesome solution? Using the mount of a ceiling fan to prop some clear wire strings as a harness to hold RAY in place :lol. You can probably wrap the strings neatly around the torso somewhere.

We really should have gotten the Marines version with the tail, as that would have mitigated the problem with the huge stand.

I'd be all for a tail version, but they only got the license for MGS4. I personally, prefer the tailless version to go along side REX. I just with the stand wasn't so ******* obvious.

Maybe we can hook our RAYs up to the ceiling fan and turn it on :panic:

We need a Desperado RAY.

Snakes pictures of Rex and Ray made me want to try Ray with his arms out on display.

(Ignore the ranger he is there so i can illustrate its size to somebody i know who has figuarts)

Good pics everyone. If I ever get these two, I think I might hire my mechanic to come up with some kind of stand by welding and painting steel rods.

@WellCQCaboutthat: I know some folks tend to have a sour opinion on MGS4, but visually speaking I really love scarred Snake. I was never one to use the Solid Eye so I never cared for the eye-patch look but the scarred version? I love it, it's a testament to the amount of crap that Snake has been through.

The custom looks good so far, I'm excited to see this finished. :clap

I bought a new body and full suit set again for my Old Snake. Didn't like the fit of the suit on a TTM19

I bought Alfreds body and his suit. I had a tie and tie clip already

Here's what mine looked like. I'm having the head re-drilled as it wasn't central, as you can see, slightly leans to the right

I still really need to get my old snake sculpt painted. Who did you guys use? I also used this display from a DOD figure that came out not too long ago. It even comes with a backdrop of Arlington National Cematary that is almost the same colors as the menu of MGS4. I scored the whole set for like $7 on monkeydepot.

Thanks man!

That's the old suit there though. The new one will fit much better

I only bought all the new bits yesterday so gotta wait for them to arrive, got the pistol coming from Dylan and i bought a zippo lighter and cigarettes :rock

@ Dylan damn that's a nice Dio, if i didn't like all my figures uniform on the HT stands i would use something like that too!

Btw my painter is Peteskywalker

The left and right movement doesn't have much resistance, but that big back and forth joint on his back seemed to have a lot of tension when I first moved it.

Its not really something thats able to be taught per se. Because it wasnt designed to stand, yet because of its design it can stand. I saw the comment, took my Rex off my shelf and did these 4 variations of the legs yet managed to keep it standing and it took me about 2 minutes to take the pictures, pose and put Rex back ( and the table i put it on was lightweight, on an uneven floor).

It may be a piece by piece situation as the joints on these items can vary greatly. The right leg ( or Rex's left if he was a person) is far more stiff than the other to articulate. My Rex is fortunate enough to be able to do pretty much within the laws of gravity and reason but i couldnt say that somebody elses Rex may do a nose dive. Mine would probably nose dive too after time. It can easily stand with assistance. It can stand on its own, but i wouldnt leave it on its own.

Thanks for the explanation Kiva! Ill give it another shot once i get my ray.
