Awesome looking forward to it. Your Solid Snake was really well done, captured the essence of the Shinkawa design while making it your own.
MGS characters are my most drawn characters ever lol. I'll scan some sketches and post as well.

Cool, fanart is always fun to look at since everyone has their own flavor since no two people have the same style.

I would love to emulate Shinkawa while still doing it freehand but it's impossible. His implied eyes without drawing them and using only silhouette is his signature and my favorite thing about his art.

Prime example from MGS1.

It almost seems like his shadows are random but their actually a thought out process. I have no idea how he does it.

I like how he uses black squares and rectangles in the foreground to make the image pop infront of it. I planned on doing that in the drawing I do tonight.

Yeah that's a great picture. His artwork is amazing, it's like unrefined, yet detailed, if that makes sense. I agree about the eyes, he does such a great job of making the characters look very hard and tough. I always thought Snake had very wolfish qualities to him.

I believe in the Art of Metal Gear Solid 1, there is a Shinkawa interview in the back of the book and he said everytime he drew Snake for MGS he always wanted to give him that "Sneaking" look and when you go back and look at the art you can identify what he's talking about.

He also said Snake's body was based off Jean Claude Van Damme and his face a young Christopher Walken lol.

That's interesting, I never read that. He certainly pulled it off.

As for the JCVD/Walken bit, that I've read and can totally see it. I also read somewhere around here MGS3 Naked Snake's build was based on Arnold. I think he was definitly thicker than Solid Snake.

Yeah Big Boss was massive in MGS3 and Snake is more lean and atheletic looking. The thing is Big Boss hasn't look like his MGS3 body since that game and has taken on a more Snake build lately.

I would show you the Shinkawa artwork where he establishes Snake's front and side profile of his head and you can clearly see Walken in there. I'm at work right now and I can't go on some sites. Maybe tonight I will scan the picture in question right out of the book.

Ok cool. Yeah I'm at work too, it's great having computer access to pass the time lol.

Awesome drawing Snake. Judging by your posts I never had you down as someone with enough patience to do a drawing like that :p :D

You guys really think Big Boss in MGS3 was bigger than Solid? He looked more or less the same size to me...I've always thought Solid's legs were massive though, so the JCVD info makes sense!!!

That was a quick loose drawing (but drawn over the intial skeleton of proportions) and thanks! :)

Snake was all hips and glutes in MGS2 :lol

I think after Shadow Moses he bought a stair-master.

Yeah I think Naked Snake was bigger. It's even more apparent in the concept art where he's shirtless. Solid was lean and mean.

It's more apparent in the cutscene right before Naked Snake dives backward off the waterfall to get away from Ocelot. There is a far away shot of his whole upper body, his arms are thicker than Snake's.

Snake still beat Big Boss though :p TWICE!!

I still like Big Boss though even though Snake will always be my favorite. I just wonder why they made him so beefy. I guess they wanted to give him the Rambo thing since it was set in the 60's in the Vietnam era.

I think it might have to do with the fact they stated somewhere he was intended to be more of a rough and tumble brawler style of hand to hand fighter than Solid.

Yeah he looked pretty big in the shirtless scenes in Snake Eater. They screenshot of him at the compound in Rassvet (?) against the wall in the brick camo also shows how massive his forearms are.

It was the 60's during the Cold War, the USA and USSR were all about power and brawn so I guess that makes sense.

I just find it odd that Kojima isn't bias toward Solid Snake since he is half Japanese but he's whoring the American :lol

Big Boss is the fan favorite ever since MGS3. I had hopes of MGS4 building Snake's fanbase again but that completely flopped... :(

It would be awesome if they redid MG/MG2:SS. It's weird that Solid Snake has been swept aside.

Do we really think it's Kojima's style to do a remake...I'd love the first 2 games remade but I can't see it. We all know what happens afterall.

That would be very cool. I'd really like to see a rookie Solid Snake, I think that could be a good one, up there with MGS. I don't think any will top that game though just due to the badass ensemble of characters. There hasn't been a MG since then that has had a such a cool team of bad guys. I thought the ones in subsequent games were kind of silly....Fatman? And the guys from MGS3 for the most part were...strange.

His style has gone all over the place the last ten years.

From MGS2-3-4 were all going to be his last game one after another yet he's still churning these games out.

I mean, the fans have wanted a fresh take on these elderly games since the story telling is no where near the level of gaming now.

It's something that needs to be done to bring the series full circle.
