I hated the way he held the pistols :slap

Damn, the PA figures are all so...thick.

It's all about big muscle bodies and tiny heads.

It's funny you mention the way he holds the pistol, that's actually something I've always liked about the series. In any good pistol CQB training they teach you to hold the pistol just like that to prevent someone from grabbing your gun in close-quarters. I've always liked how they get those details mostly right.

Another good example is Shinkawa artwork of Meryl firing her Eagle one-handed and folding her non-firing arm and hand against her chest, again, something that is taught to minimize the recoil of firing a handgun with one hand.

It's good they are all sculpted that way so they at least fit together. I think the McFarlane figures were the best in terms of accuracy, despite the weak face sculpts.

Maybe it cuts down cost on making different sized joints since they can just used the same stuff for everything.

Just to share, here is a pic of the tactical advisor for the MGS series with a former instructor of mine, six degrees of separation and all that.

I've always admired the level of authenticity of the military hardware and tactics of the MGS series - granted it isn't perfect and some of the stuff is dated, but they put more work into that than most of the military games and movies out there.

Something that stands out in my mind as far as recent stuff is Sam's sheath..it's an AR15 receiver used for the firing mechanism. That's so damn cool.

Shinkawa is written all over that.

It uses the explosion of the round to send the blade flying out to it can be drawn at lighting speed, which takes Raiden's arm off :peace

Sam is a figure I want badly, he's just so cool, I love the high-tech samurai look about him. I wish Medicom Old Snake's were more plentiful/cheaper as that suit could be the basis for a bunch of characters.

Personally, I'd love a Blade Wolf and Sam - but mostly, I'm looking forward to MGS2 Snake and MGS4 Raiden right now, from Play Arts Kai.

One big question I'm having with Play Arts is whether they'd make the visors be poseable on a single head, if they'll create two heads (one open, one closed visor) or just go with a single, visorless head?

If they go with the 'poseable visors' idea, no idea how big the chance is, wouldn't it make sense to include a second head with the MGR starting look appearance to it?

I want the B&B unit and other characters like Ocelot, The End, Vamp, Vulcan Raven, Psycho Mantis, and a Gurlukovich soldier. Also, MGS4 big boss would be cool.

MGS2 Snake is top priority to me, Sam would definitely come second.

If they do end up doing MGS4 Raiden, it would probably be simpler just to do a separate head. The arms for the visor would be flimsy at the scale since they are already at 1:6.

I would looovvveeee if Sideshow did a premium format for MGS characters!!! I think they could even pull a Rex off!

she's so pretty

I actually wish he had looked more like a she. Kind of like it would be faithful to the actual character, which everyone hates. The David Bowie-hairstyle solution doesn't change anything, other than prove Raiden-haters that they were right all along.

I'm honestly wondering how Square Enix can miss so badly (wait, scrap 'miss' - that would imply they actually had a chance to hit to begin with :dunno) at a character that has several different concept designs to choose from. It's not like they -HAD- to interpret their own design for him; they basically had it lying around in the form of a 'HD-collection' artpiece. Ugh.

The HD hair style isn't bad, it's more like a messy version like MGS4. But this thing has hideous hair, like why is it so poofy?

Raiden looks badass, the hair is ott, but are the shoulders silver? wtf!
While i hated the macfarline figures at least they were accurate (actually Raiden masked was badass)

Surely they know its fans who are buying these figures, why are they changing the designs? no one asked for (crap) updates! And why are the screwing the Snakes faces (bar Solidus)?????

this is something that bothered me since MGS3. The old style looked bad ***. I hate the way they hold the gun now, makes em look like the easter bunny :S
