Well, solidus is one of my ssf buddies. Hes usually pretty smart and reasonable. But sometimes he likes to get a little trolly and say weird things. I never once thought along the lines of what you came up with. Anyone who will see 2 of the same product and take the more expensive one to brag that they got ripped off is a fool. I merely didnt understand the direction his sarcasm was taking.

Saying something reminds me of a culture of another race, does it really sound racist to you? did i belittle the said race? if you've been to China or interacted with them especially those older ones you would have known it's their culture to do so, especially those wealthy ones, but of course there are many in your eyes "sensible" person that doesn't do something, to you, a stupid thing to do (i.e buying the more expensive one when there's another identical but cheaper item) and of course these kind of culture is getting less popular since money is harder to get by nowadays and people are more educated & sensible.

I would say asian culture produces a lot of really expensive ornate stuff and they charge/pay a lot for the most quality things.

The Japanese still have their traditional handcrafts like Samurai Swords however most are just made in China.
China, well, it's hard to differentiate something ornate and something mass produced since counterfeit, tourist items are so common. You'd need to be an expert in order to tell. That's the problem, they don't have a system like Rolex do. They can make great stuffs but they can't produce a cert or paper that guarantees the said items.
