I think Hugh Jackman was rumoured to be in the running, as well. He'd be a good choice, IMO. But, with that said, Christian Bale is my favourite actor, and I could picture him playing Snake.

hugh would play an awsome snake.
but HIDEO better be sitting right next to the director. if he dosent the movie will be a fail.

I dont think MR. KOJIMA will let anyone ruin the name of METAL GEAR.
I cant wait for the official announcement of the movie.
that day I will jump for joy but If I hear HIDEO is teams up with JAMES CAMERON to make the movie I will run down my streen going crazy.

That's been on imdb for years now.

Regardless of acting credentials, Josh Holloway would look the part if you gave him a mullet and bandana.

Guys, I think the film is in production hell, as we haven't heard any news about it in a long time. Plus, with all of the projects that Kojima has underway right now, I doubt that he'll even have the time to produce/direct a movie. He probably doesn't even want it to happen.

What if it was a computer generated film? Hayter's voice, Snake's looks. Win win! It could be the Zanzibar stories pre MGS1

Isn't that what they are anyway?

The graphics are so good and the cutscenes are so well done it sometimes feels like you are watching a CG movie. I'd like to see it live action. I still don't really think we need a Metal Gear movie though. They'll change it to much and it'll fall into the trap of being generic.

Thats what sucks about having to cram an 8 hour campaign into a 2 hour film!

A triology could fix that but no studio is going to invest in a series of films when the pedigree for video game adaptations is so poor. I mean they can't even see the financial intergity of another Bond film.

Yep ive been saying that for years now,his face expressions and deep voice would make a perfect Snake, screw Bale and Jackman...

Unfortunately I don't think a trilogy for one campaing would fix that, there wouldn't be many that would have the patience to sit through something like 2 hours or whatever for just a third of the story. As much as I love MGS I know I wouldn't. For instance if it was MGS3 being made into a film... it would be a hell of alot of crawling, walking and running through jungle terrain inbetween the few bits of dialogue.

If that type of method was to be employed, something along the lines of a short TV series may be more beneficial to prevent info or character development from being cut.

Either way, the damn thing is stuck in development hell and I doubt it would see the light of day any time soon... not with how protective Kojima is of it (and rightly so), but by the time that he may be willing to move ahead or found someone he trusts in enough, there may not be enough interest for it in the mainstream apart from the die hard fans who would crawl on broken glass and give their left nut to see it!

Nope sadly. Not for a while and not with Craig anways.

Heres just one example:

https://www.filmshaft.com/james-bond-23-abandoned/

It's all over the internet that Bond 23 has been canceled.

It's not that the studio doesn't want to make it, it's that they're in serious debt and no one wants to finance the studio right now. What'll most likely happen is they'll either get lucky and find investors or they'll sell off the licence to another studio.

Finding it hard to take that link seriously really, I suppose I don't want to believe it, lol. Craig needs a 3rd film as Bond if not more. Can't leave it with QOS. He is a great bond.

I won't worry too much about it. After all, isn't 007 THE most popular movie franchise in the world? If MGM goes to the grave, another studio will most certainly pick up the franchise. Also, I don't think that we've seen the last of Daniel Craig as Bond.
