agreed Ryan, They gave the detail needed that MGS1 couldn't achieve while sticking to the original design

TTS Ninja would look better with the more pinky tone than the orangey gold they gave him though

Hah! Look what Kojima just teased! :yess:

Whoa just seen this... meh, don't like this retconned orange look.

Looks like Fox borrowed M.C Hammer's parachute pants :lol.

:lol:lol

Say what you want about Twin Snakes, but visually, I felt they did EVERY character right. The constant revisions that came later just don't hold a candle. :lol

Funny you say that, I always thought TTS had horridly ugly character models. Ninja was the only good one. Snakes was only alright.

Snake's eye color was too bright too, and they even had Snake slits in them. I thought Liquid's was pretty good, Ocelot was meh, Wolf was good, Raven was meh, DARPA chief was bad, Meryl was good, Mantis was good, Otacon was meh.

I also hated how they had no audio for the sounds of REX moving around.

Playing with The Document of MGS2 a lot, I can safely say that Twin Snakes was poorly lit. You can ruin any 3D model with poor lighting which is unfortunate because TTS had the same level of detail as MGS2. Just look at Naomi, she doesn't even look alive. :lol

But just like Frank said, TTS is the definitive look for MGS1 for me, and if you have the MGS1 Artbook, you'll notice that the character models now sports all the details in Yoji's art. Nowadays, Kojima and him have gone drunk with fame and power and thrown any sense of consistency under the bus. :slap

:exactly:

Didn't dug Raven and Ocelot that much, but again, most likely due to the reasons stated above. Liquid was awesome, he had the same face as Pliskin and he actually looked British. I'd still go with this iteration if there ever were 1/6 figures of them. That would take the end of the world first though. :lol

One thing i have been thinking is, with the HT Raiden coming out and with that being speculated as fully sculpted. Could you mod a Raiden body to look like Ninjas?

I know it would meant sculpting onto the suit and ruining a very expensive figure as it is, but my question is do you think it's possible? given the attention needed of course

You mean from scratch? Why not sculpt onto a naked body instead?

Hmm wonder if I should get Gray Fox, though I'll admit I'm already pretty happy with my PAK Fox so more likely a pass for me. Admittedly even with the muted colors, I always thought he looked blue and orange, I thought he looks pretty awesome with the PAK and his recent HD render from MGR. I should mention that Revoltech always exaggerates their stuff. Seriously, it's their thing when it comes to human-ish characters, so if proportions are way off it's mainly because of their style than anything to do with the actual source. Works for some characters better than others of course.

Damn it, I just want PAKs of Liquid Ocelot and Old Snake. Afterwards they can make whatever the hell they want. :gah:

It has been pretty quiet for some time. Hopefully after the GZ BB they would go back to their 'not so consistent' routine on announcing 2 figures at a time they have been doing since Solid & Ninja (and, dear god, hope they are not Quiet & Skull Face)

Wait, how many of us are actually still collecting PAK :lol

Hey I still do. :lol

That said, I tend to cherry-pick so it's not like I've got a heavy collection (I only like picking the "essentials" for my collection). My collection only consists of Gray Fox, Liquid Snake, Solid Snake, Solidus Snake, Raiden (MGS2), Big Boss (PW Jungle Fatigues), and Raiden (MGR). I love my current setup actually, though I should probably post some photos down the road.

So far the only ones I'm interested in out of the new ones are Big Boss (TPP ver.) and Skull Face (if he turns out to be a good antagonist). If I recall correctly, didn't Kojima say that his PAK wish list from way back would have been Old Snake, Raiden (MGS2) and Psycho Mantis or did I just imagine that? So far only Raiden has been made, so I hope after MGSV they go back to making other characters...

Apparently this is what Shinkawa wants. I don't remember where, but I watched some interview where he says they wanted a more modern look or something to that effect.

I guess dark cotton candy colors just aren't his thing anymore.

I don't mind the new colors, what bothers me is how much he's always bulked up now.

What makes that confusing is the fact that the bonus Ninja/Grey Fox character model in MGS5 Phantom Pain is colored the original PSX way without the blue and gold scheme =(

I mean, is this paint scheme really all that hard to do to one dam figure?

Thought I'd show a couple of photos of my current setup and share bit of love for the PAKs. While they have their faults, I'm still happy with the ones I have (barely had any QC issues too so I guess I'm one of those lucky ones). I also think getting them in the right pose is the key to making them stand out on the shelf:

****ing revominis...

Whelp, maybe (hopefully) there will be Figma (or even Figuarts) MGS figures in the future.

Good Smile has the license so a Figma has the potential to happen. I mean Nendoriods are more often than not female or cutesy franchises yet they're doing Metal Gear Solid :lol so if they do a nendoriod of Solid Snake, why not a Figma? Nendoriods have Figma counterparts (some exceptions are ones like Sonic, and Toon Link though Toon Link is just a version of Link) A Figuarts could really work though.

Cool display, great poses man! :clap

@Super King: Thanks! I'll probably stay with that setup for a while. Tried to mix it up by having Snake and Raiden in a crouching pose with the former in the iconic "Codec" pose to contrast with the latter. Also gave Snake's FAMAS to Liquid since my image of Liquid always had him with the FAMAS (final chase scene and all). Once I end up getting TPP Big Boss and Skull Face I'll either shuffle them around again or put the two together as a separate display on their own since I'm fairly happy with the current setup.
