Decided to finally make some replacement shoulder joints for McFarlane ray. Still is the best looking Ray figure produced so far. Shame its built quality is so garbage. I have two of these things and the shoulders on both of them shattered or cracked. Only had red filament, so not ideal. I decided to forego the ratchecting bump in the joint and just make it a tight friction joint instead because the bump kills the teeth on the gear.

Better than the 3A version?

I believe they're totally different. The 3A one is based off Metal Gear 4 (or Rising) and the McFarlane one is based on Metal Gear 2, which has a tail.

This is really awesome, I have two of these and both have broken joints. Are these 3D printed?

Yes. I uploaded the 3D files to thingiverse in case anyone wants to print their own or tweak the design. They take about 30 minutes a piece to print.

I think so. I like the colors on the MGS2 version more. The knees are different and it has the tail. Like if 3A had done the MGS2 ray, I'm sure it'd be better, but they only had the license for the MGS4 one. I would love it if they did an MGS2 Mini ray.

Thanks so much to CryptDemon for the RAY files, I printed them and they fit perfectly on my RAYs. I haven't permanently attached them because of the pins, I assume you have to break the original joint to get them out and reinsert them? Either way this is fantastic for every MGS collector since all those RAYs are as fragile as my ego (meaning they break super easily)

Looking good. The individual pieces of my Marines RAY is still sealed away in the blister packs for the McFarlane figs. I'm always tempted to open them up just to construct it.

Yeah i would assume popping out the original pins would probably break the original joints since they're so fragile.

Acquired a MGS3 Medicom RAH with a broken body and peeling undershirt that I was able to fix up.

Replaced the body with a kitbashed Damtoys body. Modded it to use the Medicom Wrist Pegs and dremeled Snake's neck enough to insert a Neck connector. It's much sturdier now while still lightweight, and so much easier to pose.

Also, the default knife straps on this figure are garbage! Literal duct tape with orange tack that gets stuck to pants lol. Removed them and covered the orange tack with some new straps.

Those Medicom figures were cool. I always wanted the snake camo version.
They're great figures honestly, but the main drawback is the cheap plastic bodies Medicom uses underneath. They almost always experience some internal breaking and require some customizing to fix, unless kept in the box.

The practically-guaranteed need for custom repairs in addition to the already expensive cost of the figures is the ultimate drawback of the Medicom line.

The MGS4 Raiden was the first MGS RAH figure I got, but the wrist joints are brittle now and have since crumpled apart, and the legs inside the suit broke off at the hip. Doesn't help that the figure has almost no articulation with the rubber suit on, but it does look good!
