bought the PS3 HD collections and it arrived today, so should be able to jam over the weekend

I heard there's a Limited Edition version of the HD Collection, with an art book. Anyone have it or know what else it came with?

I have it, it's pretty rare as far as I can tell. It comes only with a book with the standard edition of the game but the book itself is beyond amazing. It's huge and has enough heft to to kill a person. Definitely one of my favorite collectors edition sets ever.

I just gave that a watch, damn I was so excited for this game to finally come out. I really wish it looked as good as this trailer. The actual game looks very crisp, but it's almost TOO clean looking. I wish this was the head model for Snake in the actual game, doesn't look as ancient.

That trailer was actually rendered in real time, but Kojima overestimated the hardware capabilities of the PS3 hence why the visuals took a major hit. Any of you remember the "absolute realism" Kojima promised in MGS4? Like how Snake can get the upper hand by physiologically manipulating soldiers or that when you revisit an area after a long time, grass and foliage would grow?

I replayed that MGS4 trailer back to back back then, I was sooooooooo excited.

There was another early trailer that didn't look nearly as good as the game ended up looking, so I didn't feel like we got a lesser version.

I can't find the other trailer anywhere, it was like a dev diary or something.

I really do have to give MGS 4 another go. I had so many saved files that were deleted after my fat PS3 kick the bucket.

I'm having a blast once I can skip the cutscenes. You'll need 8 playtroughs for the plat, the top 3 most painful moments are definitely:

1) The BBE Bike Chase.
2) The Chicken Run.
3) Keeping score on all them Flashbacks.

The textures were a little better on some parts, like the models, but worse on others, like the maps, but the models themselves and the animations were weird and the particle fx were veeery rough and mostly non existent, in short, the game ended up looking a lot better than the trailer.



Btw I remember LMAOing at the end.

I only gotta get the sounds of the battlefield trophy then I'm all done.

Got maybe 4-5 more play throughs including the BB run so still got some hours to put in.

Will all be speed runs though as I've done all the long ass boring trophies and emblems :yess

There are 10 emblems that could be earned automatically with the Big Boss emblem. Have you gotten the other 29?

Still, I'd take MGS4's BBE over MGS2's E.Extreme any day.. or that damn Snake Variety Level 4.

Don't worry Frank, BBE is a cakewalk compared to what you've been trough in VR. Since you had the mental fortitude to endure 3 hours of Variety Level 4, you'll be breezing trough the BBE even at the bike chase.

Man, getting these platinums sure is an adrenaline rush. Who would have thought that these stupid, juvenile, insignificant and pointless virtual shiny trinkets that amounts to nothing would take up so much of your dedication. I could have easily learned a new language with the time I've wasted. I have no idea why I'm subjecting myself to re-plat on two PSN accounts.

The Last Days of FOXHOUND is a webcomic that acts as a parody/prequel to MGS1. I'll gladly buy the whole compilation if they ever printed them. It's is really, really good..
