Re: Metal Gear Solid Discussion Thread (no figures /customs just games)

I have been thinking about trying to Platinum MGS2, but from what I hear, that can ruin my life. Is it really that hard?

Here's the difficulty rating :lol

I know a few people who managed to Platinum MGS 2, and Ryan was one of them. I'm thinking about giving it a try, myself - when I have enough free time on my hands.

Yikes! I’m going to give it but that might be a bit too much. I’m going to have to try whenever I get a break.

Re: Metal Gear Solid Discussion Thread (no figures /customs just games)

Not worth it at all . What do you get bragging rights.

Yeah, that's what it's all about; bragging rights - to show that you're one of the best players in a game :lol. I have 11 Platinums, but I don't generally go about "Trophy Hunting", unless it's from games that I love to play.

I really want to go after the MGS 4 plat one of these days. But, I already did the Big Boss Emblem run a few years ago (prior to MGS 4's trophy update), and I don't feel like completing it again :lol.

If you haven't cried in awhile, why not? I sure as hell did. :lol

I hope I'm not the only one. To add to that, I'm doing it AGAIN for the Vita. 6 hours of VR Missions so far.

That, and for me it's the satisfaction of knowing you completed all the challenges a game could throw at you. I only get the platinums for games I hold dear to me.

Best of luck, and might I suggest taking up smoking, sir? :lol

Some games, I find fun to platinum. But I would never attempt it in a huge game like Skyrim or GTA. But having it for MGS2 seems like a real achievement :lol

With a cheap hooker :lecture. I remember how infuriating that European scene was. I tried it last year "for fun" and nearly ended up breaking my controller for a second time.

The most fun I had with a single plat, was Batman Arkham City. There was so much to do in that game, and the Campaign fights were a true test of skill - but nothing too infuriating.

I'd think Skyrim might be manageable.... if you can spend hundreds, or thousands of hours behind it :google. Quite frankly, I don't have the patience for it, either.

I got a platinum in Arkham Asylum, but never City. I should have since it’s one of my favorite games ever.

Re: Metal Gear Solid Discussion Thread (no figures /customs just games)

I love AA and AC, so those two are next on my "Plat Yet Again" list. I must be mad. :lol

The thing about getting these platinums for super tough games is that you need to watch your diet and do some exercise as well. irrelevant but it works. If I wasn't eating well, I definitely can't beat "Top of the World" extreme in AC or "Shock and Awe" extreme in AA. So my top tips for all you guys who are attempting MGS at crazy difficulties are:

5. Play in a cool room, as you'll sweat a lot and those rage moments definitely won't help the temperature either.
4. Eat something that doesn't make you logy. Forget energy or sports drinks too.
3. Ginkgo Biloba is something I always took when I was a student, and there was an article a while back on it being good for gaming too.
2. Take long breaks after 20 fails, and go do something else entirely.
1. Smoke lots of cigarettes.

Survival guide for a gamer :lol

Metal Gear Solid Discussion Thread (no figures /customs just games)

I try as much as I can to platinum games, some are at like 99% with one thing to do, others 90 etc.

I usually do all the main priorities and side priorities then all that's left is the difficulty level and maybe some trophies

MGS2 I have to do the extreme modes a few of the later Snake VR missions. That's it

Same with Batman AC, I think I need to like finished game plus and finish Agee campaign chalk ages and it's done

Now a game like skyrim I did everything every quest that was fun to me .

Man, I'll let you know when I start the plat for MGS 2. You can be my coach.

As for the other things you mentioned:

5. Check! My landlord hardly gives heat in the winter :monkey4
4. I practically live on junk food. My diet is kinda terrible :lol
3. I've never heard of it... is it an energy drink?
2. I usually play until I rage quit, or break my controller.
1. I drink occasionally. I would have taken up smoking, too, but I wouldn't like to get addicted to it. Not so much because of the health concerns. But, it's like $13 for a pack of cigs in NYC! And I'd rather save up that money for 1/6 figures.

5. And here my tenants call me even if they need a lighbulb change. :slap

4. Yeah so do I. I gotta start eating like a man! Though I quit soda for almost 8 months now. :yess:

3. You've never heard of Ginko Biloba herbs? They're excellent so long as you're not allergic to them.

https://www.webmd.com/vitamins-and-supplements/lifestyle-guide-11/supplement-guide-ginkgo-biloba

Should be great since you're taking up you Masters. The only reason I stopped taking them is because they're expensive!

2. I use to do that but I find that it just creates more fatigue. I stopped every 20 tries in the "Shock and awe" challenge and whaddaya know, it worked!

1. I don't drink, but a pack of manly Malboros are $3.50 here. Gotta quit someday, ughh.
