The Ninja Gaiden bad camera flashbacks are already making me uneasy on this one. But I am cautiously optimistic. Let's see what Team Ninja can do with the Metroid franchise.

It could just be a temporary working title, but if you think about it "Other M" is an anagram of the word "Mother", which could allude to the character Mother Brain, the main antagonist of the Metroid franchise. In one of the Metroid games, a young metroid considers Samus Aran to be its mother (Samus had previously destroyed the metroid's mother).

In regards to the game itself, Team Ninja was struck a huge blow late last year during the Tecmo vs. Itagaki (Team Ninja's head honcho) fiasco. Tomonobu Itagaki, the guy in charge of the team, quit Tecmo and Team Ninja (while taking some of Team Ninja's best programmers and designers with him) to form his own games development company.

The current Team Ninja is a shadow of their former selves, but I'm still looking forward to see what they can do.

Looks better than I had hoped! Looks like it's gonna be a combination of 1st and 3rd person.

And it also looks like the story will be told with cut scenes rather than in riddles when scanning misc ruins, blasphemy!

If you check out the video at around 1:19, it looks like Mother Brain is in it (at least in a cut scene).

I also love that we (presumably) see Adam Malkovich... "Any objections, lady?"

Lets just hope the game plays flawlessly... I'm kind of wary about a 3rd person Metroid game, but I was kind of scared when Prime was announced as well.

Wary? 3rd Person Metroid was the way Metroid was suppose to be played. The Prime series never caught on in Japan and I agree who wants to a 1st Person Metroid.

I can't wait for this game!

Don't you mean 2D side scrolling? There's never been a 3rd person Metroid game (that is to say, 3rd person as defined in video game terms [3rd person shooter])

I know what it means.

It's referring to what I wished a 3D Metroid game would be and not what Metroid was. Anyways I'm excited about this game I haven't been as excited for a Metroid game since Metroid Zero Mission.

They've gotta stretch out their release dates because there isn't much this year. There wasn't much last year, but that's a different topic.

Ok needed to resurrect this as this comes out very soon. After seeing the gamescon footage, I'm excited about it.

I just preordered it from Amazon, same deal as SMG2. Preorder it and you get a $20 game credit to use for future gaming orders.

Not really that excited for it. Not liking the changes they made to the formula. Severely limiting exploration, upgrades are given to you instead of having to find them, no manual aiming unless you go into first person mode, and the story still looks iffy to me. I don't know, it'll probably be a good action game, but will it be a good Metroid? I have my doubts about it.
