Classic case of overthinking. Clearly they wanted an all-rubber body to match/compete with Hot Toys. Well, not only did that thing NEVER work (almost a decade later and mine is still just standing perfectly still) it's not how the suit in the movie was built.Makes me wonder if they ran into problems with the rubber body. This is the first time Mezco is using it right?
All they had to do was start with a very thin body, or even an endoskeleton, and cover it with very thin black fabric. Glue the armor parts on, in either hard plastic or a softer rubbery plastic. Front and back, arms, gauntlets, thighs, boots. BOOM. Done. Still proportional and would retain poseability.
They've been "working" on this (allegedly) since 2014 and I can't believe they thought the stiff, non-poseable, Gumby Hot Toys Jr. was their best option. And clearly they can't even do that!!
I'm looking forward to the Beast Kingdom Dynamic Action Heroes at this point. If they're cool or they suck, at least they'll EXIST. No way on earth Mezco is gonna beat them to market.
I think they're just waiting for the five or so of us that are really vocal to finally shut up, and they'll quietly erase it from their website.
"1989 Batman? What are you talking about? We never had plans to make that!"
