its called hero worship...while sad for anyone that passes away...but the worship of men and these made up heroes in our lives, makes me sick....we should mourn for those that are close to us and that are family....Michael never knew YOU, yet the people act like their brother just died...he took your money (for those who paid for his crap) and thats about it..It does show how sucessful he really was...he has the whole world distracted from the "real" issues going on in the world

Yeah like people was going to pay attention to real issues. :lol

If we're judging MJ by the music, Quincy Jones should get more credit than MJ. If we are judging him by his persona and dancing, then ok i can understand that.

But to call MJ a musical genius is ridiculous.

Michale was a star before Quincy Jones produced Off the Wall. You only have look at the songs Michale Jackson wrote and composed to see he was a genius.
Beat it
Billy Jean
Wanna be starting something
Smooth Crminal
The way you make me feel... The list goes on
Maybe you think that the Beatles were not musical geniuses either, and that George Martin should get all the credit ?

wtf...im no expert but quincy jones had a hand in producing most if not all of those... check yo facts.

Did anyone see the BET awards when they interviewed his dad on the red carpet? They asked him a few MJ questions and he started to go on and promote his new record label. :lol:duh

Yeah...Joe is still crazy as ever...Janet looked in shock on there. I don't think it's hit her yet that her brother is gone. The 'I'll Be There' tribute with Jamie Fox and Ne-Yo was extra sad. :(

not as popular???thriller biggest selling record of all time!!!!

I believe the biggest selling album of all time is The Eagles Greatest Hits. Please now try to make the argument that the Eagles are as popular as The Beatles.

Ah, worldwide. I think I was just looking at US. Thanks for the correction.

Even so, looks like that album sold more than any single album of Elvis or the Beatles, so my question stands.

I think it would be a hard argument to make that The Eagles were bigger than Elvis or The Beatles.

Another telling statistic is that Jackson had 13 #1 singles. Elvis had 21 and The Beatles had 27. (The Eagles had 5.)

Who the F cares who was bigger than who? When did this thread turn into a pissing match? :dunno :lol

Wait a minute....this is the Freaks board. Every thread turns into a pissing match. :rotfl

I heard on the radio this morning that Michael jackson was 5 foot 10 and weighed 112lbs! All he had in his stomach were pills.

Yep, Joe being as classless as ever. I think his controlling attitude when Michael was a kid was a big reason for Michael's "eccentric" lifestyle.

Once again I'll ask the question. Are the Beatles music geniuses, or was George Martin there PRODUCER the real talent ?

I would say Martin was at least 50% of the Beatles sound. However, the Beatles each did solid solo work well after their involvement with Martin ended.

But even then, if you read interviews with Martin himself he still ackowledges that the Beatles pushed him in to do things he would never have thought about. So again, I think it was a collaboration of ideas. Not any one "genius". Plus George Martin had ZERO input on the song writing.
