Re: Hot Toys - MMS DX 02 - TDK- BATMAN full spec and pics

what do you guys think the maximum someone SHOULD pay for this guy?

having him in your hands you know what kind of product it is... aside from what its "worth" on ebay and stuff like that. what do you think its REALLY worth, based on its overall quality?

That is an incredibly subjective question. If I didn't have one, I'd pay whatever it took that was still within my means, to acquire one. I focus on 1/6 Nolan Batman figures - so my collection really wouldn't mean much if it didn't have this figure.

You can ask people how much it's worth to them, but that really isn't going to help you decide, is it? Only you know how badly you feel this figure should be a part or your collection (or not a part of it), and only you know how much you feel is acceptable to spend on a figure.

The only objective thing you can ask is what the current market price is, but that doesn't seem to be what you want.

I can say that it's a top-notch figure of a top-notch representation of a top-notch character. Get one of the DC Direct figures (so you won't have warped heads or leaking abs) and you're looking at a really magnificent figure with plenty of features and accessories, as well as multiple posing and display options. There's a reason this is a DX figure.

And if you do regret your purchase? I don't think you'll have trouble selling it for any less than what today's market price is, it in the next year or so.

well yeah of course it is subjective, but its not an asinine question. many reviews often include a section where they state what pricepoint they feel the worth of this figure should fall into. i was looking for different responses from different people. obv. i can figure out the market value for myself. i wanted to know if the people who own it felt it was worth every penny, and how many pennies that was. so yeah, your response was helpful, now i know YOU would pay up to 6,000.00 dollars or so for it. ( no? well then whats your cut off? thats what i was asking.)

I guess it would be more fair to state the following:

-I've never had to spend more than about $250 for a figure
-I would be willing to spend that much on this figure if I didn't have it

I can't put a hard upper limit, because I've never been tested like that. I wouldn't spend $6,000, because I don't have that much to spare. More importantly, I wouldn't spend $1,000, because that feels like too much for me to personally spend on a hobby (or rather, on one piece in a larger hobby). But if faced with that choice, I wouldn't just not get the DX Batman - I'd give up the hobby altogether, as I'd feel it was too expensive for me to be as involved as I'd like to be.

So it's a good enough figure (and important enough to my collection) that I'd spend more on this guy than I would on any other figure - but I don't know how much that maximum is.

On a related note, I guess part of what I was trying to convey was that the parts of reviews that judge value-for-money seems rather pointless to me, once a figure is no longer available at retail. When they become that limited, it's more of a personal collector issue than it is when they're available in larger quantity.

I dont give you a number but I have it in hand and really think about buying a second one although it has increased in value. Guess this shows how good this guy is in hand.

:exactly: Impossible to put a number on it.

I agree that $250 is a good ballpark limit though.

Re: Hot Toys - MMS DX 02 - TDK- BATMAN full spec and pics

thanks guys, all good responses. i need to find one for around 250.

Re: Hot Toys - MMS DX 02 - TDK- BATMAN full spec and pics

well that's the first thing I look at when I go up to mine, but only b/c the iris' just amaze me every time
Agreed. I think the eyes are one of the most important features of any Hot Toys figure.

I think this guy that's complaining is just another dude trying to get a rise out of ppl who are more than happy with their DX Bats like the majority of us are. Just wants some attention that's all.
Yup, I'm looking for attention...on a discussion board where grown men collect dolls.

Really, I just like Hot Toys, and have always felt this way about the DX Batman and thought a few people would agree with me and even possibly have some info/guesses about future models of Batman figs that are certain to be released in the future.

how about we ignore and just keep posting awesome pics and any other mods anyone decides on doing to this already great figure? :rock
That's fine. But the fact that any opposing opinions on this board are met with swift and angry rebuttal without so much a moment of thoughtful discussion says a lot. You can call me a troll if you want, but that's a bit tricky seeing as I've got, like, 12 posts. Anyway, carry on. I actually am very impressed by the DX Batman, simply had some issues with the eyes, thought I'd find a few voices of reason to discuss it with. I was mistaken.

Re: Hot Toys - MMS DX 02 - TDK- BATMAN full spec and pics

Not trying to keep the fight going but the eyes are just about right. If you watch the.movie again it's all about lighting. The scene where he first meets the Joker it is bright and his eyes look just like the figures the rest of the movie is mostly dark so you can't see his eyes as well.

I've been meaning to watch the movie again anyway (I have it on Blu-ray :)), I'll take a look, it's possible I just haven't watched the thing in a long time. Thanks for being reasonable and not having a knee-jerk reaction to what I wrote! :clap

Re: Hot Toys - MMS DX 02 - TDK- BATMAN full spec and pics

is this the dx version? why are the under arms so BLUE, is that just the lighting in the pic?

i know the head is the PERS head, but im having trouble distinguishing the body between the dx and first version. HELP.

Just the lighting man, it always makes this figure look a bit blue.

Re: Hot Toys - MMS DX 02 - TDK- BATMAN full spec and pics

ok so this is without a doubt the dx version?

Looks like it. The head is definitely DX and I'd trust the body is too - it looks like he's got the flat abs, not the gut that the v1 had.

To be fair, the fact that you have so few posts would make you look more suspicious, not less (since it appears as if you haven't made much of a time investment in being part of the community yet).

But I didn't think you crossed the line (though I do disagree with you).

Yep, just the lighting.

^^^ This picture is a perfect example of why some think the DX02 has googly eyes. That's just bad eye positioning.

Tick-Tock: Sorry if you feel picked on. It's just that this topic has been discussed around and around already. Most of us are pretty set in our ways about whether the eyes are cool or not. No worries if you don't like them. Just don't expect everyone to agree with you.

Believe it or not, there have been honest to goodness trolls here, yes even on a toy forum, so forgive people for being a bit weary of a new user coming in and bringing up strong criticisms.

Welcome to the forums. I hope you have a better time from here on out. This really is a fun place. :duff

Yep. Without a doubt.

Re: Hot Toys - MMS DX 02 - TDK- BATMAN full spec and pics

well if this is all sold out and hard to find like the TDK OC and there is no new Batman from the third installation then I can assure you that if you (sorry I) don't have it yet and I really love this franchise like haytil I would easily spend $350+. I almost spend that much on a loose TDK OC for the same reason. But even then for OC you will have plenty of ppl still not willing to pay more than the regular HT price of $150-170.
Finally my advise..... wait for the third installation if you don;t think it's worth the current streetprice as I am sure Nolan will have a new batsuit out or add enough accessoried that HT will be able to spin out another enhanced version. But as mentioned if you have the cash don't hesitate if you find it at streetvalue (as long as its mint form DCD batch) as you will always be able to sell it and even if you loose a little consider it as rent for the the figure for the next 2yrs.

Right on, that makes sense. For what it's worth, I'm on the look-out for a not insanely priced DX Batman just like everyone else. Anyway, this seems like a neat forum, I look forward to seeing more cool pics of everyone's stuff.

Re: Hot Toys - MMS DX 02 - TDK- BATMAN full spec and pics

Agree that the topic of bugeye being discussed now just seem off as the figure has been out forever and no amount of complaining will change that fact really. At this point try to decide first if you absolutely want it and when you do own it and in-hand is still unacceptable to you, you can always enhance it yourself or commission a fellow freak to do it for you.
Maglor is definitely correct that the PERS position will impact how the eyes will look unreal just like real girls like to pose with eyes off center to show as much of the whites as possible to make the eyes look bigger and hence make them look more cute
