In case no one else noticed, the price of all HT barebones figures has gone up. Selina Kyle isn't the exception.

That's one way of looking at it. The way I can't help looking at it is that the MSRP is indicative of a figure that isn't the bare-boned embarrassment it currently is. I remember people bagging out R&B Spidey because it was $150 and had nothing in the box other than a stone pedestal and a few webs.

I still think the price is ridiculous. Don't get me wrong. But honestly, what do you end up doing with all the accessories for a figure? Do you clutter the display and put them next to the figure on the shelf? Or do they end up going back into the box? I know it's nice to have options and it's fun to swap out accessories/outfits/poses once in a while, but his character literally had nothing in this movie but a handgun.

Had she and Bane had more accessories, they would have both cost over $200. The prices in this hobby are going up. I am glad I am getting out of this aspect of collecting with Catwoman's release. I couldn't imagine how much it'll cost a few years down the road.

I still think the price is ridiculous. Don't get me wrong. But honestly, what do you end up doing with all the accessories for a figure? Do you clutter the display and put them next to the figure on the shelf? Or do they end up going back into the box? I know it's nice to have options and it's fun to swap out accessories/outfits/poses once in a while, but his character literally had nothing in this movie but a handgun.

Had she and Bane had more accessories, they would have both cost over $200. The prices in this hobby are going up. I am glad I am getting out of this aspect of collecting with Catwoman's release. I couldn't imagine how much it'll cost a few years down the road.

This is exactly it. What else would she have come with?

Batman and Joker were already a tough sell at like $275, why pad this release with extra accessories to increase the price. Sure she is a bit off a rip off, but so are most Hot Toys releases nowadays. Sure they probably could have sold her for much cheaper but why would they when they know we are all suckers and would pay more for her anyway.

I'm just glad they even made Catwoman. Hot Toys is so sporadic with the characters they release I am surprised we got anything more than Batman and Bane for TDKR. At least she is a regular release too because they could have just as easily made her an Exclusive and charged even more for her like Gordon.

Fairly off-topic: I wonder when Sideshow is going to have their 1/6 fig of Catwoman up for pre-order?

For that matter, any of the DC guys.
The Superman in the latest newsletter got me thinking about that.

Any thoughts when she could be released in HK? I suppose by mid April, if they will go as it was with Bane and Joker (I know that it should be may, but hope we will have her earlier, as Bane). Really eager to see in hand pics.
Of course general release will be a month or two later.

Right on.

I'm thinking that Selina's hair will probably require a lot less futzing, considering that it's pretty much straight as opposed to Black Widow's curl.

In general I get the feeling that both BW and Bane are indicators of the awesomeness to come.

bw's hair is crispy and weird. selina's will actually be more like baby doll or sarah connor.

Yeah, I understand. I've never bought a female figure before and figured that Widow and Selina were made approximately at the same time so maybe the materials would be similar. I can see that Widow's hairstyle has proven to be a bit difficult to futz - Selina's should be pretty easy I hope.

I'm also curious how the body is and how flexible the suit is.

i hope the selina suit is not like the widow suit. widow's suit is weird and rubbery and the piping is easily cracked (which doesn't bode well for the rest of it).

i'm praying selina's suit is more actual cloth-based so it won't disintegrate over time.

love love love the new bodies, though even if the arms are a little thin.

OK, pay attention folks, this is the exact reason these figures are as expensive as they are and also why they continue to rise....

HOT TOYS is a business, and HT as a company will charge exactly as much as they think they can get away with and still have people queue up to buy them.

Seriously people, I don't know why we are still debating this obvious old chestnut.

I hope the suit isn't frail. Seriously a lot of us with the idea of posing her on the Batpod are going to have to rethink that. Hopefully it's strong and flexible enough to leave her on there without worrying about wear and tear.

Really only the gloves and boots look like they are vinyl/leather-ish.
