Re: Hot Toys The Dark Knight Rises - Catwoman/Selina Kyle

Again - for the record just my opinion and I'm getting this even if its not further improved. But i'm someone who cares less about great likeliness, and more about having the best possible figure representing that character so I can have a cool looking TDKR display. In most cases, whatever HT comes out with is likely the best available as of now.

However, it seems like a lot of people here are too happy that the figure is coming true or have major crushes on the actress - so much to the extent that everyone's been so much "nicer" and less critical about the flaws. IMO likeliness isn't that great. Not sure what, length of the face, size of the hair, I dunno.

the likeness is there it justs looks like a doll.

Need to see a standing pic but it seems she needs to be thicker in her body. For those that studied the Black Widow figure is it likely the same body? Seems that figure has more curves.

I hear ya. For me it's the jawline and lips. Jawline is too wide and the space between the bottom lip and chin is too great. No doubt someone with photoshop and time on their hands will red circle and arrow my opinion to pieces, but that's what I see.

Re: Hot Toys The Dark Knight Rises - Catwoman/Selina Kyle

The lips could definitely use some work

Jawline too, but I think lips are the bigger issue

You are going by some show room pics with questionable lighting- I think it looks as good as it 's going to get- very close..perfect? Well with any toy sculpt that's not going to happen. I think HT did a excellent job/
Yes I am smitten with Anne....too:p

Yah I understand its going by showroom pics but I tend to pay more attention to those showroom pics which are technically "actual pics" rather than reveal pics which are usually taken more "professionally" with PS backgrounds and etc. Also, these showroom pics are arguabably pretty high res and some of them are close up shots.

I know they may still improve this overtime until its ready for production; but just based on current pictures I think this is hardly HT's top 5 and was just pointing out that people here are so in-love with the character that theres a strange "lack" of criticism. Even what people would say are HT's top 5 sculpts (just illustrating a point, I don't know what the top 5 would be), we'd be getting a whole ton of red circling and criticism and people nitpicking everything to death.

But again, I'm getting this for sure and its already the best-in-class Nolan Catwomen figure as it is - then again that has been the case for anything HT comes out with until we see more direct competition between HT and other companies.

You need to stop assuming things about people's feelings on this figure...

Re: Hot Toys The Dark Knight Rises - Catwoman/Selina Kyle

wait until the mask is removed first :monkey3

Really hope its removable as it currently looks removable.

But in the movie

I only saw it once and tbh didn't really pay that much attention to Catwomen, does she every actually appear in costume without the mask? Before seeing the movie I thought she would remove the mask to use the goggles (which would warrent the mask being removable), but seems like she never does that. Instead the goggles just flip down over the mask (which means the mask "could" be unremovable)

Fair enough - no more assumptions. What are you thoughts on this figure if you care to share (again, if you already have).

I'm just making an observation based on what I've seen on this thread. There really does seem like there is less nitpicking for a figure with this level of interest. For example, there is a lot less nitpicking on HT Amber because the interest level is simply low and no one seems to care that much to discuss. Meanwhile, theres like no nitpicking and mainly love for this figure, thats all. But unless I'm in the total minority, I'm curious if everyone really thinks this is like one of the best sculpts ever.

Re: Hot Toys The Dark Knight Rises - Catwoman/Selina Kyle

I posted that she looks great. But I'll expand on that.

The likeness is great. It's not perfect to a tee, but that is without a doubt Anne Hathaway. They did a wonderful job on the costume. The body looks good. I have no problems with the 'real' hair (it's long and straight and gives more display options).

I honestly did a double take on the first image that was posted from the con. I thought it was a photo from the set.

There's nothing that I have felt the need to criticize. That has nothing to do with it actually being made (Catwoman, Bane, and Batman were very obviously getting figures) nor an infatuation with the actress (I do think she did a superb job). I'm just hard-pressed to find any major flaws with it (besides the neck gap and body color which will most likely be fixed in production). Oh... her flipped up goggles could use some work. But I wonder if they're just not finished yet.

Bane and Batman have much more glaring issues that I noticed right off the bat (no pun intended).

I'm ready to pre-order this baby. :yess:

Wow... just wow... :peace

How could you possibly think that it was a photo from the set? Unless Anne only has 1% body fat, which is not the case in the movie, that body proportion is highly unlikely on a woman.:offtopic:

Re: Hot Toys The Dark Knight Rises - Catwoman/Selina Kyle

That's because of HT's tendency to turn headsculpts that should be based on the real-life actors into perfected renderings. The idealized version of a male character is one that lacks facial imperfections which can actually sell the likeness. The idealized version of a female character is... well, doll. At least in their eyes. :cuckoo:

Re: Hot Toys The Dark Knight Rises - Catwoman/Selina Kyle

I think it's the 1:6 female + real hair = Barbie mentality.

How could you possibly think that it was a photo from the set?

Easy. I glanced at the photo. Then I looked at it again when I realized something was odd. Then I thought "OMG HOT TOYS DID AN AMAZING JOB!!!11oneone". :wink1:

Hence the double take.

Completely disagree with you though I can see where you're coming from.

Re: Hot Toys The Dark Knight Rises - Catwoman/Selina Kyle

I wish I could see the likeness. I don't see Anne at all from most of the angles of the photos from the convention. It's like I'm the frustrated guy looking at the poster in Mallrats.

I see Liv Tyler more often than not.

It's the eyes. It's all in the eyes. This figure has Liv's eyes. Anne's eyes are rather freakishly huge almost cat-like (pun intended).
