Chest straightening mod added to first page. I will update it if I do the mod myself. :peace

The Ivory black is more grey. Mars black is like a jet black. I can see the difference in the tube with the brands I bought, but out of the tube, the difference is obvious.

IMO, ivory black is perfect for the straps (identical color to the abs themselves), and for the eyes I mixed the ivory and the mars. I did a first coat with the mars by itself and it looked a little off to me, but mixed looked good. Ivory would prolly look good for the eyes as well if you just wanted to buy one paint. :peace

Thanks for clearing that up for me :D

The main reason I shy away is that in addition to the gloves never falling off, I get fantastic articulation with a simple buckle cut. Literally tucking the plastic gloves into the plastic gauntlets clearly hampers articulation.

Not really. You are esentially widening the gauntlet. As it is not fixed to the arm, you can position the hand then move the gauntlet down to fit with the glove position. Anyway, articulation on this thing is not fantastic, so its a pretty minor difference.

I show you the change of my forearm gauntlets, sorry I have not yet received my DX12 to show you on the true body.
Thanks for the idea RollingJ, it now has an official batman The Dark Knight Rises and not The Dark Knight

Still need more info before I do it...

Looks excellent. Any chance you have pictures of what your gloves look like without the gauntlet in place? Did you simply cut off the buckle like I did?

Did the glove mod today, and I highly recommend everyone doing it.

Excellent. Which one did you do?

Gearing up for the chest mod fix...

Two straps under the arms connect under there shoulder blade armor, just break that connection and lift it off. And if you do it please don't mess it up lol I would feel terrible

Was looking carefully at the way the chest armor is installed. I see what you mean by "break". The armor is glued to itself around back under the shoulder blade armor.

Is there any other areas where you have to "break" a glued spot?

Thanks! Good to know that I haven't already done something to them that will make the "cuff" mod not work! :hi5:

@RollingJ: Can you confirm that your gloves look the same as mine?

No, sorry. I cut mine at an angle so that there would be no gaps if I bent the wrist. Can put pics up later; just got in from a funeral so need a stiff drink first!

This is great Maglor! Thank you so much for sharing and putting this thread together.

I'm about ready to paint the eyelids on my DX12. I've got both the liquitex acrylic black in the tube ("basics" ver) and the liquitex acrylic black in the small jar. Which would you recommend working with? I noticed you used the "basics" for the ab straps. Did you use that for the eyelids as well? And if so, did you water down the paint? Also how many coats did you end up doing for the eyelids?

Thanks in advance!

Did a glove mod today, just cut the buckles off an old MMS71's hands and stuck 'em on there. Didn't want to carve up my DX12 stuff. Looks quite a bit better, though I could probably stuff 'em up into the gauntlets a little more. Don't want to stretch them out, though. Couple of pics..one HDR, one natural.

Honestly, I'm not the best one to ask, as I haven't done that much painting. As long as you chose a flat black acrylic you'll be fine. I would say to go with whatever's cheaper?

For the eyes I mixed ivory black with mars black, but plain ivory black would probably be fine.

Yes, I watered the paint down for both the abs straps (don't forget to paint the strip that goes down the middle too) and the eyes. However I did a thick, non-watered down layer right along the edge to close the eyes slightly.

I did at least 4 coats over the course of the night, but one would cover fine if it's not too watered down. Just add a drop or two of water to a pea sized spot of paint. The reason I did so many coats is I was experimenting/correcting blemishes in my paint job/trying to make the eyes look a little more closed.

The one that you did in your video.

Cool. :)

You can literally use any matte acrylic black paint. There's almost no discernible difference. Martha Stewart has this "Satin" finish stuff they sell at Michael's that goes on just a wee bit smoother, but so long as you don't do something like get gloss or metallic, you won't notice any difference whatsoever. Trust me on this.

This is one of the best customizing threads ever :lecture

Yeah, it is. I like the spirit of collaboration here, instead of each person posting their own mods and no one going into detail as to what to do. Even self-admitting ****heads like me can be a part of it. :)

...maybe we should start one dedicated to the '89 Batman's cape.

Thoughts???

Perfect! Thanks for the tips guys. Will definitely do the glove mod. Still debating whether or not to do the elbow mod, but its definitely a nice touch.
