Re: Molecule8 - 1/6th Scale John Lennon

Not sure, but I sent them a high quality render of 3 crisp, hundred dollar bills to lock in my pre-order :yess:

Re: Molecule8 - 1/6th Scale John Lennon

It is cool that M8 trys to share updates about the accessories and it is surely done that way to convey they are in this for the details. The issue is going to be how these masters translate into production moulds and pieces. Making a one off prototype of a banging original headsculpt from Kim with custom cloths and accessories is one thing, ensuring the product can be scaled and not loose detail and quality is the real challenge.

I hope they kill this because I want the momentum to carry over to Willie Wonka.

I too really really really want Wonka so I'm hoping this succeeds all ribbing and skepticism aside. Are those supposed to still be bendable hands in different poses or are they now going for static molded hands?

Re: Molecule8 - 1/6th Scale John Lennon

Here's a better quality look.

So I've gone through stages with this company like, hate and like again!
I think what they are trying todo is something new but I think how they are doing it is wrong.

In saying that maybe Lennon was sorta a Kickstart like someone said? I've pre ordered Lennon paid only £40 deposit so for me it's just a case of waiting.
I'd like to hope when August hit's that they have a full reveal of Wonka making sure that it's not as backwards as they've done Lennon because I know that's a figure a lot of people want!

I'm unsure on how to feel about this company I like the unique stuff but not how they are doing it. :slap

Here's clearer pics I believe these are actually in hand and not renders.....so looking good.
I'm curious to see if the hands will be silicone or resin.

Re: Molecule8 - 1/6th Scale John Lennon

Not convinced whatsoever that those are not renders.

Assuming that would be an actual backdrop with perfect gradation from grey to white, the boots would therefore have to be physically rotated in front of it to accommodate the various angles we see here. That would induce the slightest bit of lighting/shadow change at the best of studio lighting setups however, the shadows, light direction, and falloff appear to be static in every position while the boots are rotated.
This leads me to believe it is something similar to a Z-brush or Mudbox setup with the viewpoint being rotated which keeps the gradient background static and does not alter the lighting, just the vantage point while work is done on the model/textures.

Even with the hands, the lighting source appears to be almost directly overhead - exactly where the camera is taking the picture. Again, even in a perfect studio situation, I would expect some sort of lighting change or shadow play from the camera if nothing else.

I could be wrong... real life is stranger than fiction as they say but these are not convincing me of anything in physical form.

Re: Molecule8 - 1/6th Scale John Lennon

Once they get far enough out and and a majority can no longer get PayPal refunds M8 is going to post a huge render of a hand giving everyone the finger.

Re: Molecule8 - 1/6th Scale John Lennon

LOL and those hands are suppose to fit like gloves into their Mark I Endoskeleton robot hands ?

the boots have peg holes, yet their Mark I Endoskeleton has robot feet?

looks to me that the, the head will be thrown in the trash, along with the hands, and feet. By the time its said in done that Mark I Endoskeleton will end up looking worse then any Terminator at the end of a movie

Re: Molecule8 - 1/6th Scale John Lennon

My mistake it does look like the back of the feet does have pegs

Re: Molecule 8 - 1/6th Scale John Lennon

Imagine there's no 1:6 Scale John Lennon figure being manufactured by Molecule 8
It's easy if you try
They're pranking everyone big time
The whole damn thing has been a lie
Imagine all the toynerds screwed out of all their pay

BooHoo!

Imagine there's no Wonka
It isn't hard to do
No golden tickets or gobstoppers
And no golden eggs too
Imagine all the fanboys living lives of men (with no toys)

BooHoo!

You may say I'm a threadcrapper
But I'm only having fun
I hope some day you'll realize
That playing with dollies when you're a full grown man is really dumb ...
