Re: Molecule8 (New company)

Pretty obvious CG rendering unfortunately.

Re: Molecule8 (New company)

You probably got me wrong. What I'm trying to say, that there is always some way to produce something if you really want.
I am not happy with Asmus sculpts, but I am more skeptical about new levels of quality from Molecule8. The way they always say "soon... follow our news" on most questions and the fact that there is no product yet, does not add to great expectations from them either.

Oh, I did misunderstand. Yes, I agree.

Re: Molecule8 (New company)

I see now they have their distributors up, Sideshow is a big one to get for your first product, maybe they know something we don't?

Maybe, just maybe... there's something more sinister going on here?

Re: Molecule8 (New company)

Well, overpriced figures with little to no accessories is right in Sideshow's wheelhouse, so it seems like a good fit.

:monkey3

Can't wait to see that $300 headsculpt up for pre-order on SSC's website.

Re: Molecule8 (New company)

For me that closes the book on whether M8 is a real company and not some boiler room scheme designed to fill a Paypal account and run...unfortunately that should be the least of anyone's concerns...question still remains as to what their production run of Kim's amazing sculpt will actually end up looking like and why they still seem to want to claim that this figure is going to be on delivery trucks in two weeks??? That piece is actually laughable.

I think we may have been looking at the layered skin over the endoskeleton all along! This seems like a good match for lennon's chest and neck area, and you can see where the seam is where the neck attaches to the body. If I'm correct, I will be really pleased! Look in between the necklace bands...

CG or not, those knots just ain't 1/6th scale. Can't believe people are justifying their dreams by pictures like this without even looking hard at it.

More and more, Molecule8 seems to have taken a page out of the how-to-disappoint-fanbase-in-three-easy-steps.

Lol...really? Justify my dreams...? To who? You?

We shall see but we shall see...is the glass half empty or half full gentlemen...it will be fun to refer back to this thread when we find out..I continue to believe the later. And not to justify anything to anyone..

Re: Molecule8 (New company)

That's CG liquid in the half-full glass. In a couple weeks we'll know if the real thing is beer or piss.

I disagree I think apart from the preorder they have done extremely well.
Look at the curiosity/hype and tension they have built in the matter of time.

For me the background digging license holding confirmation and sideshow distribution I think that show's they are legit. :dunno
They have created more buzz and hype than I've seen hot toys do in a very long time!
I'm still not sure on the body I don't get the pricing behind the body alone compared to the figure? Not to mention if the body breaks can you replace it with a normal body? :dunno

I'm actually really excited for this company. There's a huge gap in the market at the moment due to Hot toys being busy with Disney, blitzway do like 2 pieces a year if that ? Apart from these 3rd party bootleg companies there no one else is touching the markets for iconic films. :slap

I agree with you Godfather...I think that they are legit. Only question is can they produce a quality figure. We will find that out soon. All indications point to yes..

Re: Molecule8 (New company)

There are too many connections to the hobby that make Molecule8 legit. I don't think many doubt that at this point. However, I'm with the camp that this figure will not live up to the hype. It will most likely be a good figure. Will it be good enough so that the $300 seems justified? We will find out in 2 weeks.

Re: Molecule8 (New company)

I don't subscribe to the super market tabloid "any publicity is good publicity" nonsense...if I am spending money on something that is not a KISS concert I don't want flim flam and razzle dazzle just concrete facts about what I can expect for my money. This company is not being buzzed about because people are lining up to buy their product but because they are skeptical and looking for a train wreck...not sure how that qualifies as good marketing. I am no Hot Toys apologist but if Hot Toys took their next license and came up with a new company name for it and said..."from Atom9 Belle from Beauty and the Beast!" and released the same pictures they would get a lot of buzz...new company, seemingly high quality = buzz, hype, interest, whatever you want to call it.

Yeah, ready for massive disappointment and backlash if this Lennon figure isn't the next holy grail.

However, I'm with the camp that this figure will not live up to the hype.

That's all I'm saying. If everyone here is qualifying "legit" as in 'they will deliver some kind of Lennon figure' then yes I agree. I don't think they will run away and send you a box of socks like that guy on ebay a long time ago. But their hype machine seems based on the Trump mentality.

I don't subscribe to the super market tabloid "any publicity is good publicity" nonsense....

Yes, exactly.

Re: Molecule8 (New company)

So what exactly happens again when that May progress bar fills up? Perhaps molecule8 is hoping it's the "real" end of the Mayan calendar.

Re: Molecule8 (New company)

It's almost like some of you are looking for reasons to justify the higher price tags these figures are going to fetch. You're like, I'll gladly pay the minimum 100 dollars extra to get the same articulation a much cheaper body will provide. I mean this inner skeleton that I will never see really looks cool and I like paying extra money for figs because even though the formulas not broke, it definitely needs fixed.

If the body is truly jointed like the picture shows, what kind of sense does it make to put a jointed skeleton, inside of a jointed body? And then you get besides yourselves that we collectors have the audacity to question this great new company who is promising so much, and yet has shown so little. Some of you must have a **** ton of money to not care about any of the warning signs.

Good point! I may defend Hot Toys and Blitzway from time to time when the need arises but that defense will always be based upon my specific opinions of specific products that they have produced that I own and enjoy...I still cannot see how anyone can defend a company that has yet to release a single figure...what is the defense based upon?

Re: Molecule8 (New company)

I think it's a bit silly that so many people are deciding to argue over this company. Why attack or defend them? Why not be civil amongst ourselves and simply wait and see? I admit, I'm excited to see what this new company can do. Why shouldn't I (or anyone else) be? Especially if one hasn't invested in it personally, meaning preordered the Lennon figure or the Endo. You've got nothing to lose if you haven't thrown some coin their way. And furthermore, if this figure drops and it's as amazing as it seems thus far, those who have preordered one or both items are going to be part of something fresh and innovative. They will be "plank owners" so to speak, owning the first product/s Molecule8 have produced. I'm not defending the company, just the opinions of people who are looking at this with a more positive outlook. I understand the skepticism as well, believe me. I get it. We haven't seen much and they're promising quite a bit. But again, if you haven't clicked the preorder button, what is the worry?

Re: Molecule8 (New company)

I think the "worry" for some may come from WANTING to click the pre-order button but not being able to because the company is setting off too many red flags for some and not doing enough to give straight answers to fairly simple questions. It's one thing when a movie studio plays coy about what to expect from their latest release to build hype and preserve the "surprise...if the movie turns out to be bad you are out $10 not $300.

Re: Molecule8 (New company)

M8 has been stating that they will reveal more soon. As well they should, given that they have two items for preorder right out of the gate, yet nothing to show other than a head sculpt and some beautifully rendered CG images. Again, I understand the hesitation. But worry? Don't worry about it if you aren't yet invested. Once more is revealed and you're satisfied with the product, then pull the trigger on the preorder if you're so inclined. From the trend I'm seeing, there will be plenty of time and opportunity to do so given the aforementioned hesitation amongst some of us 1/6 enthusiasts. And to reiterate, I'm also just hoping for some friendly chatter and healthy back-and-forth here concerning this topic :)
