I've toyed with the idea of buying the NECA turtles but in this jungle of bootlegs I just don't know how to tell them apart.

Authentic: green shell, rubber front shell, flat feet, generally come from box set or clamshell packaging

Bootleg: blue shell, arched feet, harder plastic front shell, come in cylindrical tubes.

I still really want the old NECA turtles, but have yet to find them for a reasonable price.

Excuse my ignorance but what's a fair price? I remember they weren't all that cheap to buy orignally. Maybe that was due to the exchange rate at the time for me but what are they asking for now?

When they were available widely in comic books stores, I was seeing them for about $20 Canadian each. Now I'd generally have to pay well over $100 each after exchange rate and shipping.

I've considered getting the bootlegs but can't bring myself to buy fake figs.

Are you wanting moc or loose?

Wow, Thanks for that and I'm the same I could never buy the bootlegs I totally understand where you're coming from :)

Sooooo....Mondo, where is the mouser announcement?

*edit* I asked on Twitter and they told me to expect more info in March.

I've got the NECA Leonardo - bought it back when they first came out.

Mine came in tube packaging, so.. :huh

There are a few figs that are authentic and came in tube packaging but it's a small run. Bootleggers immediately started producing them in that packaging. I've even heard there are bootleg boxed sets now!

I honestly don't even remember what mine came in. I got the very first shipment of them direct from a comic shop. I think they were tubes too?

Cliff Notes?

Mousers will be alot less than $150.

They seem to put alot of love in the collectibles. For example the Iron Giant is not cast in grey plastic and then details are painted on, it all painted after casting.

And some mystery character limited release in march. From the sounds of it it is a Iron Giant variant in black, maybe the one with the weapons, since Brock stated he has posted a hint on instagram a while back and there is a black IG head in one of his posts.

I really like these, but I'm still on the fence. The price seems a little high, maybe I'll just get Leonardo to start. If I like him enough, I'll get the rest.
