Mondo: Spider-Man The Animated Series: Spider-Man

I’m on the fence with preordering Spider-Man and Venom. If I get it then I have to keep it, can’t sell it. The standard versions are still available as preorder. It makes me wonder if they’re still working on improving the joints and paint on them.

If you’re looking for highly articulable and poseable figures, avoid Mondo figures. They may improve over time but I don’t think they’ll ever reach 1/12 level.

I buy Mondo more for the nostalgia and shelf presence, they really pop in my display with their paint jobs, compared to most of my other “realistic” figures.

With the X-Men and Batman lines, I don’t mind the limited poseability as much but with the Spider-Man line, I do wish they had more articulation because those characters are known for their crazy flexibility and poses.

Thanks for response. I’m a 1/12 collector and only thinking about getting this for shelf presence and nostalgia. I don’t really expect it to do crazy poses, but still want it to be able to pull off some nice action poses, tho. My main concern is the weight of it and the weak ankles.

Probably should wait until reviewers get the standard versions in hand before I decide. I still believe the standard versions might have improved QC.

Really like the sculpt and aesthetic of these two.

What was the turnaround time for the replacement body?

My regular Spidey still has not shipped since Mondo confirmed a replacement 3-weeks ago.

Previously, Mondo shipped my Rogue body within the same week.

Alerted them on Dec 30th, they responded and confirmed the new one on the 2nd of January. Shipped out on the 4th of this month and arrived on the 8th.

Any guesses as to who is released next? I’m gonna say Green Goblin even though he didn’t appear until later in the series. This line is going to be extremely villain heavy (which I love) unless they are allowed to do some of the guest characters like Punisher and DD or maybe even a few from the Secret Wars storyline.

My guess will be Green Goblin or Shocker (given the gauntlet included with Symbiote Spider-Man)

Shocker gets a lot of crap and is generally treated as a joke throwaway character lately but I’ve always liked him and would love to see him in this line and would honestly feel real excitement about him

Looking at my figures and what they teased....Green Goblin and shocker seems to be the tease.

Looking at what they did with X-Men, they made Civilian Logan an exclusive and I can see that with Peter Parker happening the same way.

I suspect villains so it does seem Green Goblin, Hobgoblin and/or Shocker are the best bets since we are lacking baddies. We got 2 Spideys and Venom...so I think some baddies are coming before Black Cat. I think Black Cat is more of a niche....want.

Black Cat would be awesome though, I love her look from the show.
I guess Kraven and Mysterio are decent possibilities as well. I feel like Kingpin would be a bit further down the line given the size he would have to be.

I could see them doing MJ too as she could come with some cool accessories (hydro parts)

Black Cat is the only other release from this line I’d get. Have to be really strict with budget and I’m happy with my Mondo collection consisting of Spidey and Cyc, but I would not be able to resist Felicia Hardy.

I think Doc will needs LOTS of tooling. Lab coat no Lab coat glasses, tentacles that stand, short long ones, it's probably a challenge to tool imo.

I totally forgot about Scorpion! He would make an amazing figure with all those bright and contrasting greens! Have to include the human head sculpt and the more monstrous version as well.
Now I’m hoping it’s either Scorpion or Black Cat next!
