This thread is more enjoyable to me than the figure is at this point.

At the end of the day, if it fits within your budget and wants/needs - go for it.

For me the biggest issue is cost with lackluster accessories and mediocre clothing.

Yes the sculpt is great, but for 265 I should not be having to re-dress the figure and hope for third party accessories.

I am fine with one or the other, but both is where I consider myself priced out.

I picked up the NECA last stand variant. Should arrive today. Then I’ll get the dog and maybe the 2 other variants.

That’ll satisfy the itch until we get a newer/updated version.

To @Asta point - we are acting like there aren’t viable clothing options that can be done at this price point, which is just not true - his DiD flight jacket is a prime example.

If you are going to push the cost closer to 300, I need to really have it justified (in my own eyes - everyone has different requisites).

I was going to reflexive preorder, but giving a day to sit on it and being new to this hobby taking a step back and noticing what we should be expecting quality wise at this price point helped remove the rose tinted goggles for me.

I can wait. But I understand some folks can’t.

I will say, discussions like this are what make me appreciate this forum and really begin to grasp the nuances of this hobby.

Much wisdom my friend like you I enjoy the content of the forum more than the figures. Until recently I belonged to a model boat club it was the initial idea, sourcing the parts, building the model and the interaction with others, not the sailing of the model, that part was short lived. I am about to clear the decks and move on.

So the Jacket is made of pleather and will flake apart after a month to a year forcing you having to make jacket replacement.

Thing Dog mutation set from NECA was released this week to mom and pop shops. Picked mine up yesterday.
Saw the reviews on it. It's an over-priced accessory and it looked like a mess to try to display. I don't want to waste a space for it and will just wait for the Norris head playset instead (if NECA does it)

The jacket is pretty much the only thing holding me back now, I don't understand why they went with pleather when they could've used materials like suede or waxed cotton which are starting to replace pleather and it's not like those are expensive either. SooSoo changed their initial Rorschach pleather coat for said materials, Hot Toys is using them for their 2.0 Bane coats, I think even InArt is using them on Aragorn. Doubt they will bother changing it though, dunno why more people aren't up in arms about it being pleather either since it seems like a huge talking point in other collectibles, maybe Mac just isn't as popular as the rest of us make him out to be.

The thing is LIM Toys would have delivered on MacReady. The A2 jacket, hoodie and other accessories would not be subject to licensing.

It really makes me wonder how people on this forum would make a figure.

Would you email DID's customer service and say "Hey, can you make this jacket for me? I need 2,000 of them"

If they say "No", what do you do then?

And what if they say "Yes, sample fee is $2,000." So you think that's pretty crazy price, but you pay it, and if you get the first sample back, and it looks like the Mondo version, and you say "Hey, we wanted the version that looked like the jacket from your WWII USAAF pilot"

And they say "Okay, we'll try again, you have to pay the sample fee again" What do you do then?

What do you do, if what you want to do, doesn't work?

Everyone here thinks making figures is so easy, and things just go exactly how you want them to go. Do you think it's as easy as just showing the factory a picture of what you want, and then they produce a scaled version exactly at the quality level you want at a price that's affordable for everyone?

Just because you eat at McDonald's 10 times a month, doesn't mean you know how to run a restaurant.

The figure looks cool, but it has some inaccuracy's. The jacket does look cheap in materials (Faux leather can crack) and they could of easily added the blue hoodie considering the price they are charging for it.

I don't know if we are saying it is EASY to make figures. I think we are merely stating where we find fault in the current project and the reasons why each of us do not think it meets our threshold for cost/benefit.

Having critiques and saying you can do it better/easier are different things.

When you have dinner at a restaurant and the food isn't to your liking, do you send it back... Even if you're not a chef?

When you don't like a meal, do you lecture the chef on how you think the meal should be prepared, even if you have no idea what it takes to be a chef?

My friend, but what if one eats at McDonald's more than 10 occasions each month, what then?

Just a bit of fun. Yes all you say is true, it is not easy, I like many have some experience of such projects, it can a nightmare. I am now going for a few beers.
