Watched it earlier and I really liked it, it's remarkable what the director was able to accomplish on such a small budget.

If you were looking for an in your face monster movie though this is not it, but don't let that turn you off from it, it's a very good movie. The atmosphere and the two main actors are what made this movie enjoyable to watch and the special effects were very well done. There are a few action scenes, but mostly the movie just follows them trying to make it back to the US from Mexico.

I definitely like this style of film making and was happy that I was able to rent it and watch it at home, definitely worth the $10.99.

It was a very movie you say......

lol.

But I do want to see it. Glad it's not in your face. Movies with little budget shouldnt show the monster in full force. Ever.

i was about to see this last night, but honestly...
$10.99 for a rental??? F U iTunes... I'm sure the movie is great, but
I'd rather wait and watch it @ a movie theater...
Still excited to see it! And from what I gather from the reviews it's NOTHING like Cloverfield, so I'm glad!!! :rock!

So you'd rather spend $20+, plus food and gas!? That doesn't make sense to me, but to each his own. My brother and I watched it in full HD on his 50" LCD and it looked fantastic. We were comfortable and could pause it during pee breaks too. :D

And no, it's nothing like Cloverfield, that is a monster/disaster movie, this is a survival movie.

Actually my wife and I usually go to the matinee, so that's only $6.00, plus we can ride our bikes to our local theater which is just a couple of miles away. I have a few free-popcorn coupons and we usually bring our own drinks!
:rock!!

So, yes! I'd rather wait to see the movie in a theater! :lol!

Believe me, I was about to click on iTunes last night, but I enjoy going to the movies a lot!

It wont come to the theaters. If it does, i'll be suprised. Movies like these end up in 2 theaters, and "bomb"...and then the studio says "I TOLD YOU IT WOULDNT WORK!"

:(

It's an interesting movie, it does have a point, and it's not really too much about the aliens.

However, the effects are pretty fantastic. There's not like a ton of stuff, but what is there is done great, and I'm kinda wondering how they managed some things. I mean, of course there's the monster stuff, but there's lots of the sort of ravaged landscape type stuff. Apparently it was a $15,000 budget, which really makes it crazy. It definitely doesn't feel like a cheap film. Really for something like this I'd say it'd have a budget of at least $10 million

UTtoyfan told me that parts of it were filmed in Galveston Texas after a hurricane. I thought the same thing about the budget when I saw all of the destroyed buildings.

That is correct.

During a post-screening Q&A, editor Colin Goudie explained that he and writer-director Gareth Edwards filmed most of Monsters guerrilla-style in various locales throughout Guatemala and Mexico, dropping CGI effects into the mix — everything from army tanks and mile-high fences to multi-tentacled behemoths — after the fact.

"But we didn’t really need to create an illusion of mass destruction in Galveston," Goudie said. "Because it was already there, everywhere, after the hurricane. All we had to do is block out any view of the highway in the background. Otherwise, we got millions of dollars’ worth of production design for next to nothing."

They got really lucky with that, plus nothing better than an authentic disaster area to make your movie look good.

anybody else see this yet? i just watched it on On Demand and it's better than i expected. i kinda doubt we'll ever see collectibles from it, though.
