Well theres several different Moria Orcs, I wish they didn't go the rehash route, just to save a few bucks. The one MO face I remember was the one grining at Sam (or was it frodo)...does a quick pic search

Yeah, but the one they went with seems to be the most iconic image for the Moria Orc. Since this is likely the only Moria Orc PF we'll get, it makes sense they go with that design.

I'm not sure if I'm going to display mine with the helmet or not. Reserving that decision for when I have it in hand!

Iconic, you can't even find that face they used (Weta/SS) in the movie. I was just using the most significant screen time MO.

My waitlist converted but I had to cancel.

wow, seems this PF is getting lots of cancels.

lol!

We'll maybe I'm wrong about the iconic thing. But when I see that headsculpt I have no doubt that I'm looking at a Moria Orc. And I think the sculpt itself kicks all kinds of ass.

I don't see how this saved Sideshow any money, they didn't use the exact sculpt? I remember the pic you posted, but for me - their choice was great, a real grisley orc!!

I'm keeping mine. I'm looking forward to this piece.

I really think Sideshow is gonna start charging cancelation fees on stuff pretty soon....

I think they would really be shooting themselves in the foot if they started charging cancellation fees. It would just mean that people would be much more careful about what they order, which from Sideshow's perspective isn't really a good thing.

:lecture :lecture I totally agree, but I would bet that they will start charging a "Restocking" fee like a lot of places do if you order something and cancel, which is nothing more than a cash grab if you ask me. I sure hope they dont because time are hard, and people are going to be extremely unhappy if they have to pay fees for something they didnt even get.
I also dont agree with Sideshow charging more for the EX's either, I thought getting an EX was because you were either lucky, or fast enough to get one, not because you were willing to pay more. :(

producing 1000 statue and 500 cancellation is not a good thing either; it's even a much greater loss for the business if that happens.

Yeah, but I think there are other ways to avoid that kind of situation. The issue is that they need to correctly estimate demand and set an appropriate edition size. Sideshow isn't stupid (usually, anyway). They keep records for how many cancellations things in a certain line have gotten in the past and they should be able to estimate what the demand for something is. The only problem is when something unusual like this economic crisis occurs. That can mess up projections, and I think that's what they're dealing with now.

I can tell you right now that if Sideshow started charging cancellation fees, I would pretty much be done with ordering directly from them. It's already pretty questionable whether ordering the exclusive edition is worth it for me on most items, especially when they charge more for it. If I had to deal with fees as well, I'd just go with BBTS for everything.

My point is, how many posts do we read nowadays with people saying they are canceling items? The threads are filled w/them.

If they start to charge cancelation fees, it would make people think twice before they ordered. And, thus keeping edition sizes lower and meaning less stock SS gets stuck with....

I understand what you're saying, but it could also mean that the people who kept their orders wouldn't order in the first place, if you see what I mean.

To me, the ideal solution is one that doesn't discourage people from ordering, but still keeps the edition size within reasonable limits.

there's no way in hell i'll cancel this guy i would cancel that retarded planet of the apes PF( not that i would PO it in the first place) in a heart beat over this baby. It's the collectors bug man we all had that momment when we want everything sideshow puts out but when you see the total we think about it. I've canceled pieces not because of financial hard times but mainly because it was getting out of control. now i only order what i really want/need mainly LOTR,ALIEN,PRED. pieces and ounce in a while marvel piece.( space also plays a big factor:()

They may start charging CF. One reason being, Theres way too many people PO'ing SS items, just to Pre-Sell them on ebay, then cancel if it dosen't sell. Thats also another reason why the ES is so large on certain items (new hulk dio).

But I can contradict that with pre-set ES, which is what SS used to do. Now they rely on the amount of orders received.

anyways, this is not the place to argue this, more so the "ask sideshow" forum.

Think about this...SS always puts pre-orders well before they come out...Your finances are different from one day to the next (especially in today's economy)...You could be fine in january, but july your broke...Also, your collection/wants can change...I personally found myself, not liking Marvel Legends anymore, so I now collect Hot Toys 12" The Dark Knight & Iron Man figures, should I be penalized for pre-ordering a case of Marvel Legends 6 months before there released???

I like that Sideshow doesnt charge a 'stocking'/'cancellation' fee...But I think they do need to limit their edition numbers, but then you definately will help out the 'scalpers'...Maybe, SSC needs a 'excuse me' order system, (Ie. your allowed 3-5 cancellations per year without penalty, but start charging a $20 or 5% fee after that)

I seen your spawn board ebay sale post a long while back...

https://cgi.ebay.com/SIDESHOW-MORIA...286.c0.m14&_trkparms=66:2|65:13|39:1|240:1318

What would you have done if that didn't sell, cancel? Same with your other PO sales?

The 3 free cancels, then a return fee could work to some extent. But it's a bit unfair to those who truly had to cancel due to some unforseen circumstance.
