Well, looks like I'm heading out to LA, more than likely. That's where my better half seems to have found the best job for now. *i will be so sad to leave Texas.*

We do not have a clue on decent place to live where we can find affordable apts. Our budget will be pretty low at the beginning because we will be a one income family with bills. So if anyone has any advice, besides to not move out there, please help out.

Thank you.

The housing market is very depressed out here and if you can buy, now is the time. But as to a good place to live - it all depends on where you work.

But a good rule of thumb for the south side of the hill is the further north and further west - the better (but also the more expensive. In the valley, the further south, the better.

Well you pretty much have to have a really great income to live in a great place. Since we're in the starting out stages, we're kind of in a bind.

I'll miss you Buffygirl. :monkey2
At least I got to meet you before the move. :banana
I'll have to visit you and Jenn when I go to LA, then.

Moving to LA is very vague.. I live in The South Bay where you pretty much can't find anything cheap.

I live just southeast of LAX and there is affordable places to rent that aren't bad at all.

However, depending on where the job is will determine where to suggest as they don't want a disaster of a commute. Sitting in traffic for over an hour is no fun at all.

What city is the job in?
Based on this, I can recommend affordable places.

Hollywood

Well if it even happens. We may end up finding out living on the streets of Austin will be better than LA for what we'll bring home paycheck wise. :) And you're always welcome to visit!!!

CONGRATZ!! Hopefully I will follow in ur footsteps soon!! :D

Awesome!

Goodluck with that. Keep us updated if you can.

Will do!!

If you can swing West Hollywood prices, it is the nicest community in easy commuting distance and full of stores and attractions, IMO. Beverly Hilly/Beverly Hills adjacent can be surprisingly reasonable and a great location, though not as reasonable as someplace with a heavy commute. Although if you can stand the neighborhood, Hollywood is cheap I believe.

What are the working hours?

If they are off hours, then I can recommend some great spots by me. I live real close to LAX and the prices are not outrageous.

Will you need a one bedroom or more?

I feel like work hours for the most part are standard. 8-5 ish.
We'd like a two bedroom, but with the income sucking at the beginning, a 1 bedroom will probably be all we could do. Just really depends on pricing.

Thing is, 'prices' is what I would need to look at before I could agree with places working for us. Let's just say the income is very not great right now. But we believe family would help out for the first bit until we found a part time job.

BTW, you are all so awesome for participating in this search.

Oh and once you are here, PM me and I will send you my work info. I will give your info to my Temp and Full Time division and tell them to find you some work.

Yes I do have pull...
