Oh there is an open unit in my building (5 min from LAX). It was my old unit (moved to a two bedroom).

The price is reasonable as well.

I pm'd ya.

And I will take you up on the 'putting a word in' job stuff. Cause you never know.
:)

West Hollywood is fantastic, but extremely expensive unless you get incredibly lucky. For a reasonable commute I'd recommend Koreatown, the prices aren't outrageous and it's centrally located. Downtown is also a possibility, but it's kind of grungy and unpleasant.

LaMelnik, I know you are trying to help and that is very kind of you, but isn't LAX a bit far from Hollywood, even in non-rush hours? I know I would go crazy after a while with that drive. Wouldn't something like Van Nuys or North Hollywood be something closer to Hollywood and still be affordable? (and actually hipper for a young couple) Sorry, don't mean to burst bubbles, just trying to help with what I know from my own experience living here in L.A.

If you know the backway it is not bad.

I work in Century City and live in the South Bay. I know many alternate routes to get around.

But you are correct, if you want to stick to the main routes.

rents are very low in Hollywood right now and most areas have rent protection... Silver Lake is next door to Hollywood and Echo Park is next to Silver Lake... great hoods.

Congrats on moving out here to LA Buffy! :banana

So if I may ask, what kind of work is it that your other half is going to be doing out here?

I've lived here for a few months and it's really cool. I live in the Westchester/ Playa del Rey area and I think it's pretty decent. I actually found my apartment and roommate on there (got really lucky) but I looked for a WHILE (several months). But just expect to do some homework for a while :) Good luck with the search! :)

Thank you so much for the input.

Jenn is an editor. Film, tv, etc. She's actually currently doing a documentary for her boss but it's been kind of slow. Hoping that picks up soon.

We'll have to have a mini Freaks party to welcome you to LA, Christina! :rock

And I totally concur with Mr Commtech. :D
I live in Sherman Oaks. Less than 10 minutes from Hollywood on a good day but can still make it in approx 30 with traffic. And in LA terms- that ain't nuthin'. :lol

Yea, hate traffic around Hollywood; I can make it from Simi Valley in like 30 minutes (take the 118 -> 170 to bypass the 405 and 101), but that's probably out of your price range.

If you move around there, I'm still looking for more people for my dodgeball team :lol

Where in the South Bay do you live?.. I consider the South Bay to be Manhattan, Hermosa and Redondo Beach, but I may be limiting it to what it actually is.. I'm over in beautiful South Redondo Beach..
