Re: Build progress on my custom Avengers Diorama

Wow! That wall looks awesome.

Thanks :)

Happy New Year Craig....this will be finished this year???...right.

I know right? :p Seems like these 'responsibility' things keep slowing me down :lol

I love the effect that the separator made. What tool is that? And are you using a special type of foam? Whatever it is, it seems to behave nicely, something a lot of foam doesn't do.

The foam is from Home Depot. It doesn't have the 'pebble' type structure like an icechest, it's a different material. More consistent throughout. It's a purple/pink color you see on first couple of pages of this thread.

Re: Build progress on my custom Avengers Diorama

Thanks :)

Added the left piece this am. The thing in the doorway is a rollup door photo, just so I could get vibe:

Re: Build progress on my custom Avengers Diorama

Looking good

A couple points of advice for future walls.

Clear rulers prevent boo boos

Start the main field of the wall with your primary object(s) such as the door or in this case the windows. Then run your horizontal lines starting at the top or bottom sill to prevent skinny rows.

Add secondary objects as you go but mark the separation details around them after you have scribed the main field of wall, that way you can adjust to avoid odd looking alignment issues.

You don't need to mark every row, just enough of them to cover the width of the ruler, once you have done that just use the previous lines as a guide.

Guess that's good? :)

Clear rulers prevent boo boos

I thought about that. I will definitely acquire one. Thanks.

to prevent skinny rows.

I assume the skinny row you're talking about is the bottom of the window?

The wall I was modeling it after actually had that little thin row under the window, believe it or not. :p

Thanks for the pointers, I'll try them.

Re: Build progress on my custom Avengers Diorama

Today was building wall debris/rocks/concrete day:

Still more to add, and of course will look slightly better with paint [emoji51]

Re: Build progress on my custom Avengers Diorama

Looks pretty basa$$, if I do say so myself :D

Thanks, my lil' diorama stalker :lol

Build progress on my custom Avengers Diorama

:)

So, can anyone tell me my building "inspiration"? I lifted the structure of the wall idea from a famous Marvel backdrop.

The goofy looking damage top left will be a scorched blaster mark btw. Looks weird currently.

Re: Build progress on my custom Avengers Diorama

And by 'anyone', I pretty much meant the one person with their hand raised in class....

Re: Build progress on my custom Avengers Diorama

Not sure what the inspiration is... but I do like the results!

Looking forward to further progress.

Re: Build progress on my custom Avengers Diorama

Hint: It's not a Marvel movie poster shot. But it's one of the most iconic.

Re: Build progress on my custom Avengers Diorama

Ding ding ding, winner :)

The arches are windows [I think, the wife and I looked at video several times] so it's an "inspired by". But you got it. :clap

Even the pattern on the left is an inspired by in that pic. You will see where I got it from on the far right of the hero shot pic.

Re: Build progress on my custom Avengers Diorama

Funny that I missed that.

When I made my "hero shot" dio of this scene I was so focused on the base/bridge (since that is all I tried to re-create) that I guess I never really focused on the surrounding background. :)
