I just recieved my Jabba the Hutt and Jabba's Throne from SIdeshow, but since these are sold separately, I figured I'd review them separately. Jabba is at MROTW tonight, and the Throne is over at QSE. And both are great, in case you were wondering.

The guest review is from sunohc, a name that might be familiar to some of you Sideshow collectors. He's got a review in of the Medicom Jack Sparrow, who's gotten to be a pretty good deal out on the 'bay right now. You can find all the reviews at the usual:

Thanks for reading!

I agree Jabba could have had more articulation, but it really isn't really needed. Maybe ball joint arms and a cut waist somewhere? He really didn't move that much. I think the throne is 4 stars though. Just WOW! I thought the same thing about product size when I got mine. Online pics just can illustrate the size of the piece unless they were full sized, and that would be tough if not impossible to do.

I don't think that ultimately, ball jointed shoulders would have done much more to help with his arms. In order to get the sculpt right, his fat has to be how it is which would get in the way of even ball joints, the only way you could hope to get a wide range of motion in his arms would be if he were more rubber and flexible like the film puppet, but then the collectible wouldn't hold up well over time or have such a great paint job.

I think that overall Sideshow did the best they could with the design limitations of Jabba. They could have gone the squishy route... which could have added articulation. But I imagine that would have added quite a bit to the cost of him and that longevity issue would spring up.

The whole set-up really does have an undeniable wow factor... but a bit of me is really surprised that between Jabba, Salacious, the Throne and Bib I've dropped (with shipping) over $400 on this set :google :google :google

I'm extremely happy with my purchase, but a bit of me is still appalled :lol

i'm glad the articulation isn't there, especially in the tail, where you would probably see the seperation where the joint or whatever is.

don't remind me what i've spent. :monkey1

wooo. nice.
I never had that unsual liking for jabba so I was disinterested in buying the product, it'd definately be a funny piece to have in a living room. i'm sure anyone walking by would have to comment lol

I feel that by you giving this a one piece review on something that was meant to be part of a collection is lacking. You have to see it in all of it's glory to get it. Coming from me this has to be true. I am very hard on the items I recieved and you have been very giving on other stuff. This is a 10 anyway you look at it. Again that is my opinion. Thanks for again taking the time though to review another great Sideshow product.

I will be testing that theory, sir.

Great reviews, Michael! I always look forward to them.

You are a brave man Mikey, I can't imagine pulling the trigger on altering Jabba, I love him so much as is, I'd hear agonized screams in my mind whenever I wanted to alter him with paint or other tricks, good luck, hope it pans out how you want it to.

I know what you mean. That is why I hate the pending points area of my account! I wish 1 point wasn't 1 dollar when I see how many pending points I have :lol

The good thing about Jabba is,even though its a lot of money, when I look at him I don't see the price tag.

So I guess thats a good indicator that he was worth the bread.

I look at him knowning exactly what he cost, and I am willing to pay twice what I did for him, I may have had a hard time saying that never having seen him in person til now, but if he was double the cost and I had seen him at SDCC, for sure I wouldnt' have hesitated to place my order, just an amazing composition of pieces with the creatures, the throne, Bib and Jabba, great stuff.

Great review Sunohc! I especially loved the Zizzle comparisons and commentaries in your photos, I wish all reviews were as extensive as this one. I would love to own this figure.
One thing I noticed in your review is that it says Sideshow imported the figure, it's actually Master Replicas that imported it.
Can't wait to see more of your reviews in the future!
