I decided to make this a separate thread because I didn't really want it buried in the middle of a 500 page one, and while there's a fair share of threads on the general topic, I think that's simply an indication of just how hot of a topic this is.

Once in awhile a figure comes along that sparks serious controversy. The latest Premium Format figure in the Sideshow Star Wars line up - Boba Fett - is just such a figure. The debate centers largely around the use of plastic for the body and sculpted parts versus polystone, and the sides are quite divided. I have my review up tonight, and I fall in the camp that says "looks great, not worth $325". Tonight's review is a long one, particularly for a Premium Format figure, but you've been forewarned. You can find the review at the usual:

I'll have a guest review again on Sunday night (yes, I've been remiss lately in getting them posted, and this will be another Brant review of a Sideshow product, so get ready!). Have a great weekend, and thanks for reading!

Well, I agree with most of it till you get to the value section then it was what it was. I totally disagree with what you had to say (the value part) but this is your POV and for that :duff.

but how would you know of the perceived value, you don't own one :lol

A very nice review, and the best part is that he worded the value section in a manner such that he discussed from the standpoint that he and others feel something, but not that what they feel is concrete fact, shows a nice willingness to accpet the other side's perspective, which is a good thing, well written Michael.

Here's the $64 question:

Anyone think a site like Rebelscum would have the gnads to post an honest review of a SSC, GG or MR product like that?

I love this picture!!!

A very fair review. I think this piece looks fantastic. The key issue, I believe, is perception of value, and I think that the review hit that nail on the head. I really appreciate the sanity of this review, and it makes so many points that deserve to be heard and taken seriously.

It's funny that this is a three star review with almost perfect scores in several areas, yet the Fett haters are likely to read it and think, "Oh! Snap!! Sideshow just got their butts handed to them!" What makes this an honest review is the fact that it appreciates the quality and beauty of the piece and only knocks down points where appropriate. I agree with these ratings--in the end there are far more good things about this piece than bad.

To the best of my knowledge, I've never seen a review on RS.

that's what makes his opinion (sometimes) laughable

I have no opinion on this piece as I don't own it

One reason why Rebelscum is more of a news site than a review site. Sometimes opinions just have no place on a website or news channel.
