Has it hit China yet?
Has it hit China yet?
Sorry, no. I've seen more than my fair share of Vandenburg AFB missle launches and contrails here in SoCal, and this object exhibited the exact same ballistic behavior. Unless, airliners now fly vertically into the sky from the ocean. Jets generate independent contrails from each engine that merge into one. Videos of the incident don't show this, they show a red flame with a huge single plume of exhaust resembling burnt rocket propellent...not condensation. It's definitely a missle. "It was a plane" is about as legitimate an explaination in this case as 'It was Superman".
The frightening part is that The Pentagon claims (or feigns) ignorance of it's origin, so either our military is responsible and assumes the sheeple will swallow the plane explanation, or they really do have no clue where it came from.
Lex Luthor?
I was going to say that this happens so often around here that it should not seem unusual. The fact that nobody seemed to know anything about it (as far as contacted military officials) is not really a surprise either. The chain of communication has stumbled in that arena before.
And what an awe-inspiring show of force it is.I found it interesting that on the news one ex someone (don't remember his title) said it likely could be the US's show of force since Obama Mama is in Asia. Just kind of a friendly reminder that we still gots the big guns.

Seriously, that's ridiculous. You want to show force, you navigate an aircraft carrier right off someone's coast and have some field exercises. You don't send off some lonely, crappy rocket into the sky from your own shore into the ocean. We ain't Hezbollah, who show what force they have by periodically shooting some rockets at Israeli schools. Other states know we have enough nukes to destroy the world 1000X over.
Or. . .it could prevent a war. Others may want to mess with us until they realize what they're really up against, which is part of the reason to display force. Have fighter jets create sonic booms over their capital for a couple of days, and they may change their mind. However, what you are proposing could start a war.
Skymed not Skynetat 1:07...did they say Skynet?

Obviously, it depends on the adversary. China doesn't need that kind of display to be deterred. North Korea may well be the most irrational state in existence, so deterrence may not work for them in any case. You have to tailor your response to the situation. I don't imagine a single situation where firing a rocket into the ocean benefits the U.S.If you put an American aircraft carrier off the coast of Southeast Asia, within effective proximity to North Korea or China, I don't see that happening.
